The Board of County Commissioners along with County Officials want you to know that the well-being and safety of our employees and citizens is a primary concern to us. We have given much thought in preparing for how the virus may affect our daily operations and our employees. Our commitment focuses on following stringent cleanliness in our offices to ensure everyone working and doing business in the Courthouse feels safe. Last week we began sanitizing hightouch areas such as door handles and counter tops.

We have shared information with our employees on the best way to keep themselves and their family healthy. We encourage anyone who is not feeling well to stay home. To date, no County employee has tested positive for COVID-19. If that occurs, we will follow the CDC’s guidance. Any County employee that is diagnosed or comes into contact with someone who has COVID-19 will selfisolate at home for 14 days.

The Board would like to remind our citizens, friends, neighbors and visitors to take the following steps in order to help limit your risk of contracting COVID-19, and limit the risk for individuals that are at HIGH RISK for acquiring the virus. These people are our grandparents, older neighbors, friends and family that already struggle with heart disease, diabetes, lung disease or have compromised immune systems. We all know someone that falls into at least one of these categories. We need to help protect them and ourselves! Eight things we can all do to come together as a community and help each other stay safe and well are:

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap is not available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Soap is best.

Droolets spread COVID-19. if possible wash your hands immediately after touching any

Public surfaces like shopping carts, business counters, doors, pens, gas pumps, ATM’s, etc.

Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Avoid touching your face, nose, eyes and chin with unwashed hands.

Avoid contact with people who are sick or showing symptoms, and if you are sick STAY HOME!

Avoid crowds and all nonessential travel if possible.

Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or cough/sneeze into the bend of your elbow

If you have a cough, fever or respiratory symptoms CALL YOUR DOCTOR FIRST and discuss your symptoms. Do not just go to the hospital, urgent care, or doctor’s office; however, if you do get urgently sick, go to the emergency room immediately.
