Neel-Way Funeral Home announced that Gordon Thomas, funeral director, is licensed as a funeral director in Texas under the new law in Texas...Bear, deer, elk and turkey were returned to Walters in evidence this week that local residents had been hunting in New Mexico. A. L. Patterson exhibited a large brown bear, Kemp Spicer a 10 point buck deer, Cliff Stimpson a four point deer, and G. G. Ruggles an elk. Two small brown bear and several turkeys were also returned by the hunters...Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wampler of the Pecan Grove community, are the parents of a baby girl...Miss Delilah Land, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Land of Walters, and Cecil Huff of Lawton, were married at Waurika, October 29...Mr. and Mrs. Ted Tahsuda of Oklahoma City, are parents of new daughter, born Monday, October 28...A son, Earl Dean, was born October 24 to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Parks.

Marvin Eugene Norman, 41, of route 1, Hastings, was driving south one-half mile south of Walters, and pulled out to pass a car containing Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fletcher. At the instance a black cow ran onto the road ahead of the Fletcher vehicle and directly into the path of the Norman car. The black cow, belonging to Elvis Billen of Walters, was lost, while damage to the car was above $200...Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Williams of Lawton have chosen the name Lisa Rachelle for their baby daughter born Monday, October 17... Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Whitehead, Walters, are the parents of a baby girl born Wednesday, October 26. The new mother is the former Miss Leona Philpott...Charles Schneeberger of Walters, was named to the state 4-H Hall of Fame blue award group. It is from this group of 10 outstanding 4-H club boys that the 1961 Hall of Fame boy will be selected...Clyde Eoff, 50, principal of Ahpeatone rural school, died Thursday morning at Ink, Arkansas after a very short illness...Marlow Outlaws came to Walters last Friday night to play football for keeps, just like they have done for years, and almost got away with it, before taking a loss to the Blue Devils 15-14, in a heart-chilling struggle.

Jim and Corinne Bowles announce the birth of a daughter born October 23, and named Misty Dawn. Paternal grandparents are Jerry and Sue Bowles, of Walters. Maternal grandparents are Gust and Jane Kruger, of Keif, N. Dak... Miss Kalee Glenn, freshman student at Walters, was crowned 1980-81 Junior High Football Queen Tuesday night at the game with Cache. Princesses were Elicia Durbin and Terry Edgmon...Sassy Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Simpson, was the winner of top honors Saturday, October 25 at the “Our Miss Regal Girl” Pageant in Walters. Sassy received two crowns, three banners, three trophies and her entry paid to State competition.

Mrs. Effie Walls, Temple beauty operator, announced this week the completion of a remodeling program in the interior of her beauty shop...Mrs. Martha Linkugel announced the opening of the Temple Nursing Home this week. Mrs. Linkugel has been in operation for several weeks, but just recently completed all the details necessary before making the announcement. The facility is located at 104 North Elm, the former residence of Mrs. M. F. Ray...Mr. and Mrs. B. I. King and family have relocated in Walters following a fire December 21 which completely destroyed their home and possessions. The family was not at home at the time of the blaze...Miss Anita Wrape, daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Wrape, Temple, became the bride of Robin Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor, Saturday, January 26 in the First Baptist church in Temple.
