Bob Lines, Walters city manager, presented his resignation to the city council Monday night. Mrs. Viola Calhoun, city clerk, also turned in her resignation this week. No successor to Mr. Lines has been named...Clyde Powell, superintendent of Randlett school, resigned his position and accepted a position as teacher in the Chickasha junior high school. Mr. Berry, a teacher in Chickasha for 11 years, whom Mr. Powell is replacing, will be the Randlett superintendent... Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Campbell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Randlett, Friday, January 13. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell were married in Colbert county, Ala., in 1889. They came to Texas in 1901, and in 1908 they moved to their farm near Randlett. In 1925 they entered the grocery business at Randlett...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Luke on December 26, and has been named Jimmie Earl...A daughter, Sarah Dell, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Garland Ruggles January 3, in Wichita Falls. Mrs. Ruggles is the former Miss Lisque McAlpine...A daughter, Patsy Carrol, was born New Year’s day to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Horton, of Lawton. Mrs. Horton is the former Miss Thelma Cagle.

Majority ownership of Walters National Bank will be transferred by Bailey Stephens, of Elgin, to John R. Reynolds, of Walters, on Thursday, January 2. John Phill Reynolds said he will be in Oklahoma City Thursday completing transaction for the bank stock which Stephens has held as owner of the bank since its beginning. The Reynolds father and son combination, serving as president and executive vice-president respectively of the bank in the latter days of the Stephens ownership, will own controlling interest with 52 percent of the stock...Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Taylor, Jr., of Rt. 1 Walters, announce the adoption of a nine months old son who was named Walter Bryan...Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Phillips, of Moore, annouced the birth of a son born December 22, named James Reed, Jr. The mother is the former Goldie Poolaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mose Poolaw...Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Barbe, Rt. 2 Walters, are the parents of a son born Christmas day named Jerry Cleat, Jr.

The City of Walters was plagued with water main breaks Christmas eve night and Christmas Day, as the temperature dropped to two degrees below zero. Water department crew and other city employees battled three different breaks at three separate times in frigid conditions. Sunday night Ramon Vardell suffered the loss of part of one finger when it was smashed severely by a jack hammer...Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Robertson, of Randlett, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Tonya Renee, to Jerry Wayne Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerrell Tompson, also of Randlett, on January 21 in the Randlett Baptist church.

Five local mothers have volunteered to be Cub Scout den mothers for Temple Cub Scouts. They are: Mrs. Leon Douglass, Mrs. John Ed Dowlen, Mrs. Arlan White, Mrs. Wesley Bowles and Mrs. Ben Alexander. Cub Scout is open to boys ages 8 to 11...A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward N. Northcutt, Odessa, Texas on April 1. He has been named Steven Wayne. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Morgan, Crowley, La. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Northcutt...Pvt. Larry L. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Johnson, Temple, has been transferred with the 716 Military Police battalion from Fort Dix, N. J. to Camp Drum, N. Y.
