Please Pray

My niece was murdered last week in Lawton, OK. There is just no end to the hurt that the family is having to endure. Please pray for my niece’s mom and dad, sister, and her precious little daughter as you go through your quiet time and your day. The funeral is Saturday, Feb. 8.

I have addressed my thoughts on praying in the past. Some have asked when should they pray. I ask, “Well, so are you praying now?”

The reply will often go something like this: “No, I haven’t yet, I don’t want to bother God, because I know He is really busy.”

Pray First! Pray always. He is God, He can handle it!

Pray before you have a problem! When you wake up in the morning.... Pray! When you sit down to read your Bible...

Pray when you have a job….Pray. When you don’t have a job….Pray.

When you are on your way to work…Pray. When you are at work….Pray.

When you are headed to the house for the day….Pray. When you’re ready to sleep…. Pray!

For y’all who are single: pray for the people you date. Pray for him/her and their future mate.

I know that the decisions you and others make can and will affect at least that many people. Yep, marriage is important, so pray! Pray for your marriage even before you meet your mate!

When you find out about a setback in life...Pray.

If you are driving, please don’t bow your head and close your eyes. And if you do, then stop first.

But why should I pray so often, I’ll manage alright. The Lord knows to look out for me.

Let me be to the point here: If Jesus Christ is your Boss and Savior, and you follow Him then you will desire to stay in constant communication with Him. But if Jesus isn’t in charge of your life then it won’t be too helpful to pray. Seek Him and He will hear you.

But why should I need to bother God about my problems? Why? Because He is God! God spoke, and then the world was created. He spoke to Abraham and Abe’s faith brought them Isaac in their old age. God told Joshua to shout and the walls of Jericho came tumblin’ down. There was a little boy who had some five loaves and two fish, Jesus prayed, and the 5000 men and their families were fed with those

Luke 18:1 says, Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,

I had a guy tell me, “But I don’t get anything out of prayin’!” I asked him how often he prayed. “Oh, whenever the cow herd flies off in all different directions, sometimes when there’s a bad storm, and other times like when my wife won’t quit naggin’; you know, stuff like k’at.”

Pray first. When we pray we need to do a whole lot more listenin’ than talkin’!!!! It’s supposed to be two-way with us doing the receiving! And before you receive anything from God you must be sincere in your prayer. Pray His will be done. And pray it from the heart! And it’s important we don’t pray so as to be heard by others, but pray in private!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. (Phil 4:6 nasb)

Pray if you are suffering. Pray for the sick. Lift one another up!

And again, we are asking for your prayers in our terrible loss!

Choose Jesus, choose life! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And y’all KEEP PRAYIN’ for RAIN! Amen
