Removal of city offices and the Walters public library to the first floor of the Wiley building on the northeast corner of Broadway and Colorado streets will begin Saturday, Bob Lines, city manager, announced Thursday. A suitable location for the fire truck had not been found prior to Thursday. The city hall, which has been in use for 19 years, was condemned in June, 1937. Large cracks have opened in the building, and the walls lean to the east...Work on erecting five Sunday school rooms for the Church of the Nazarene here got under way this week...The marriage of Miss Clarice Dilks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dilks, of near Temple, to C. A. Barnett, son of Mrs. W. A. Smoot, of Eagle City, was an event Saturday, March 25.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Langford of Walters. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Lindsey, of Hulen...Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Mason, Walters, are the parents of a son, James Edward, born February 20. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Mason and Mr. and Mrs. Warren Dunbar, all of Walters.

The Walters Coop Elevator association is celebrating its 50th year of operation in Walters. The names on the original corporate license are: C. Powers, John Kohout, B. W. Russell, J. C. Unsicker, W. A. Rupe, C. R. Powell, A. A. Carter, T. H. Ketels, Louie Carr and F. H. Hathaway. Danny McLarty has been with the elevator since April of 1976, and manager since July 1978. Those managers who preceded him are: E. R. Marsh, Dale Chapman, Robert John, L. A. Zachary, E. F. Hoodenpyle, Jr., Charles Whittington, and Jerry Sheriff...Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hooper, of the Red Store community, will be honored with a wedding reception on their 60th wedding anniversary, Sunday, April 1. Pete Hooper and Mattie Brown were married March 30, 1924, in Temple...Mr. and Mrs. Roy Parks, of Walters, will be honored at a reception on their Golden Wedding anniversary, Sunday, April 8, in the Cotton Electric Civic Room. Roy Parks and Georgia Brown were married April 14, 1934, in Lawton.
