Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Metz of Temple, celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Sunday, October 21, when all their children and grandchildren gathered at their home. Mr. Metz, now 71, and Mrs. Metz, 67, were married 1884 in Piedmont, S. C...The wedding of Miss Mervell Powell to Bufford Lee Stapp was an event of Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaw. The bride is of the Plainview Community, while the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stapp of the Beaver Ridge Community... The wedding of Miss Alice Haynes, daughter of Mr. Emmit Haynes, to Charlie Meyer, son of Mr. J. C. Meyer, both of Walters, was solemnized Thursday night, October 18, at the Catholic Rectory...A Farm Chapter was organized among the Indians of Cotton County Monday at a meeting called by S. A. Cook, Indian Farm Agent. Approximately 70 Indians were in attendance and the following officers were elected; Maquel Tosee, President; Calvin Atchavit, Vice-President; William Karty; Secretary; Cecil Titschywy, Treasurer; and Bruce Tomah, Chairman.

Paul Owens, of Walters, long active in Masonic work, has been conferred the title of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor. Owens will be initiated November 20 at the Scottish Rites Temple at McAlester...Silcott Poemoceah was elected President of the 1960 Indian Pow-Wow at a recent meeting of the Walters Service Club. Other officers chosen include Mitchell Gwoompi, Vice-President; Lou Belle Gwoompi, Treasurer; and Clayton Nauni, Secretary. Ray Nauni is the outgoing President...Dorothy’s Flowers and Gifts is now open for business at 118 S. Commercial in Temple...Gene Sturdivant has purchased the interest of Ed Blair in the City Barber Shop at 114 N. Broadway and will be joining his father, Dwight Sturdivant in the business.

Miss Tammy Durrett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buford Durrett, of Temple, was crowned Pharmacy Queen Thursday, October 11, at Southwestern State University at Weatherford...Miss Cheryl Lyn Wiley became the bride of William C. Donzell at the Holy Trinity Greek Othodox Church in Dallas, October 20th. The bride is the daughter of Bill Wiley, of Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, and Mrs. Dorothy Wiley, of Dallas. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wiley, of Walters... Walters High School Drill Team consists of six members. They are Tammy Martens, junior and Captain of the team; Lynn Parks, sophomore; Janna Aubrey, freshman; Tammy Northrip, freshman; Belinda Russel, freshman; and Sandy Parks, freshman.
