A 47-year secret was ended because a Lindenhurst, N.Y. man needed a birth certificate and discovered he was adopted and had two brothers and two sisters. In 1908 the Kitchen children were separated because of some unknown family tragedy. Two of the boys, George 14, and John 6, were sent to the west and raised on a farm near Temple by Frank and Allie Kneedler. The two girls were sent to homes in the midwest and the month old infant remained at the New York City Children’s Aid Society. John has known that he had a younger brother, but could not find anything out about him. Jeremiah Callahan (Charles Kitchen), after finding out he was adopted, began writing people named Kitchen, to no avail. Last month he contacted the Society and discovered one of the brothers was John F. Kitchen who used to farm around Temple but now drives a truck in Fort Worth. The two brothers had a reunion a short time ago in New York. George and the two sisters have died.
