Funeral Services for Pat Driskill, 87, Walters, OK were held at First Baptist Church, Temple, OK on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Mike Teel officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Temple. Memorial Donations can be made to the Temple Alumni Association or First Baptist Church, Temple, Kitchen Fund.

Patty Ruth (Hancock) Driskell was born November 6, 1932 in Walters, OK to William DeForest “Bill” and Lora Melvina (Fletcher) Hancock. She went home to be with our

Lord and Savior on January 13, 2020 after complications of a broken hip.

Pat graduated from Walters High School in 1950. She attended Cameron College and then Central State University in Edmond where she pursued a teaching degree. She pledged to Sigma Sigma Sigma and remained a life-long member. She began her 35½ year teaching career in the fall of 1953 at BC Swinney, an elementary school in Lawton, teaching 2 years there. She then taught Commerce for 2 years at Walters High School, where her typing team won the State Championship. Pat moved to Temple, OK and taught 7th grade English and Library for 4 years until she transferred to the elementary and began teaching 4th grade until her retirement in 1990. She was also a 4-H Leader for many of these years. Her kids won many blue ribbons and won the District Share the Fun Contest.

Pat married the love of her life, Kenneth Jule Driskill on January 11, 1955 in Walters and to the union 2 children were born, Lana Jo and Jay Lyn. They made their home 2½ miles north of Temple until it was destroyed by fire in 2002, at which time they moved to Walters.

Pat was a member of the Walters or Temple First Baptist Church for her whole life. She was a Sunday School Teacher, helped with VBS, cooked and served at Funeral Dinners, and coordinated and served meals for students at BSU at Cameron University. She also delivered Meals on Wheels. Pat Was a member of the Cotton County Art Council, Dahlia Club and the Homemakers Home Extension Club. She enjoyed playing 42 with couples from Temple and Pinochle and Canasta with couples and friends from Walters. She enjoyed oil painting and won many ribbons and a Best of Show at local, area and regional art shows. Pat enjoyed attending the Fletcher Family Reunion each year. She enjoyed working with the school personnel and students in all the schools she taught in. She always had kids at their home. She was good at and loved making German Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, Coconut Crème Pie and Divinity. Her family and church were the most important things in her life.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Lana Jo and Greg Spake of Temple, OK; a son, Jay Lyn and Ellen Driskill of Walters, OK; 2 grandsons, Matt and Jennifer Mallow of Temple and Eric and Jessica Spake of Lawton; a granddaughter, Carly Jule Driskill of Walters; 5 great grandchildren, Lana, Shaiden and Ryker Mallow, Autumn and Jaxon Spake; a brother, Jerry Don Hancock of Walters; 3 nieces, Chris and Terry White of Temple, Bethany “BJ” and Shawn Davenport of Lawton, Maggie and Matthew Fletcher of Ethel, LA; a nephew, Jason and Melissa Hancock of Walters; a great niece, Malia Sparks and Ella of Temple, OK; a great nephew, Mark White of Temple, OK; a ranch hand, Bill McKay of Temple; her housekeeper, Kaye Anderson of Temple; many former students and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years and her parents.
