Funeral Services for June Cromwell, 71, Walters, OK were held at First United Methodist Church, Walters, Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Don Crow and Brantley Tillery officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon from 2-4:00 p.m.

June Ann (Scherler) Cromwell was born to Marvin Ray and Trecyl June (Daugherty) Scherler on October 18, 1948 in Frederick, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on January 14, 2020 at the

age of 71 years, 2 months and 27 days.

June grew up west of Walters in the Ahpeatone Community where she attended school through the 8th grade. She then attended Walters High School, graduating in 1966 and began attending Oklahoma State. She married Roger Stanley Cromwell on June 8, 1968 at Walters. June then completed her Bachelor of Business from OSU in 1971 and the couple moved to Ponca City and then Tulsa and Little Rock. They soon returned to rural Walters in 1975 and eventually moved to town in 1984.

June began teaching at Chattanooga Public Schools in 1979 until hiring on with Temple High School in 1990. There she taught Business while working on her masters which she received in Business and Behavioral Science at Southwestern. She retired as counselor for THS in 2015 after a 36-year career in education. She had served as yearbook sponsor for both schools and always enjoyed spending time with her teacher friends. Teaching was her passion!

June loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and collecting nick-nacks. She loved Christmas and decorating for it. She also enjoyed several years of sharing her home and hosting for the Miss Walters Pageant.

She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Scherler.

Survivors include her mother, Trecyl Scherler of Walters; her husband, Roger of Walters; 2 daughters, Charisa Winfrey and Steve of Edmond, OK, Summer Thiele and Rob of Piedmont, OK; a son Cade Cromwell and Becki Allen of Walters; 4 grandchildren, Mallory Winfrey, Avery Cade Cromwell, Oliver Winfrey and Roger Thiele; 2 brothers, Doug Scherler and Michelle, Stan Scherler and Kim all of Walters; an aunt, Beth Barnhart of Billingham, WA; other relatives and many friends.
