Graveside Services in the Devol Cemetery, Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Come and go viewing Monday and Tuesday at Hart-Wyatt with visitation on Thursday at 9:30 am at the cemetery prior to the service. Masks requested while visiting with family.

Joan Maxine (Langley) McGill was born to George Jefferson and Jessie Illa Bernice (Cofield) Langley on March 31, 1936 in Randolph County, AL and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on September 20, 2020 at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 20 days. Joan grew up in Randolph County, AL. She married Donnie Noel “Cowboy” McGill on October 31, 1953 in Wadley, AL and soon made their home in the Wichita Falls/Burkburnett, TX area, as Cowboy was in the Air Force. They owned T&O Grocery in Burkburnett for a time and eventually moved to Devol, OK in 1962. Through the years Joan worked at the Haggar factory in Temple, operated Joan’s Beauty Shop, worked at Wilson Manufacturing, then at Siemens Manufacturing and finished her career with 16 years as secretary for the County Barn in Randlett.

Joan is a member of Devol Baptist Church. She sowed her kids clothing and costumes during school days. She loved attending any and all sporting events of her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed going to the lake on the weekends with the family and spending time at their lake houses at Lake Arrowhead. She also enjoyed fishing and catching more than Cowboy. She and her family enjoyed celebrating special occasions at Underwood’s, Bill’s Catfish and Roy’s Barbeque.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Bernice Langley; an infant brother, John Wade Langley; and her grandson, DJ Hickerson.

Survivors include her husband, Cowboy, of the home; 6 children and their spouses, Debra and Terry Hodnefield of Devol, Donna and Stephen Dilks of Cookietown, OK, Diane McGill of Rogers, TX, Donnie and Darcy McGill of Devol, Deena and Trip Grant of Wichita Falls, Danna and Joe Thompson of Temple, OK; her siblings and spouses, Jeff and Mailey Ann Langley, Chera and the late Carl Melton, Gay Nan and the late Jerry Craven, Kaye and Mitchell Cooper all of Wadley, AL; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie Dilks, Stephen Lynn and Tiffany Dilks, Shane and Christann Dilks, Dannie McGill and Britten, Jody and Chuck Cooley, Dillon McGill, Danielle and Austin Ford, and Quay Grant; 7 great grandchildren, Easton and Ruston, Huntley and Ella, James, William and Zelma; her Chocolate Lab, Luke; nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
