Funeral Services for Horace “Bud” Fowler, 84, Walters, OK were held at First United Methodist Church, Walters, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Brantley Tillery officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation was from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening.

Horace Onan Fowler Jr., “Bud,” was born to Horace “Dude” and Margie (Stapp) Fowler on March 14, 1935 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Walters on August 1, 2019 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 18 days.

Bud grew up in Walters, attending Walters Public Schools. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army for 2 years during the Korean War. He married Beverly Ann Chapman on December 27, 1955 and they made their home at Walters where he was employed for many years as a lineman with Cotton Electric.

Bud was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid sports fan which included many of his children and grandchildren’s activities. He and Beverly were members of several square dance clubs throughout the area and enjoyed participating in activities and games with the Walters Senior Citizens. He always enjoyed a good game of cards with good friends.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his stepmother, Elanor Epp Fowler; and his sister, Martha Risinger.

Survivors include his wife Beverly of the home; his sister and brother-in-law, Neta and Jerry Morris of Geronimo; a daughter, Linda Wilkes of King George, VA; 2 sons Larry Fowler and wife Julie of Denver, CO and Douglas Fowler and wife Nancy of Amarillo, TX; 4 grandchildren, Jason Wilkes and wife Karen, Tracey Finall and husband Ricky, Allison Fowler and Alex Fowler; 2 great grandson, Ricky Finall, III and Ryder Finall; many other relatives and friends.
