Funeral Services for Cheryl Dranger Powers, 57, Walters, OK will be at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 10:00 am, Rev. Kent Simpson officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery.

Cheryl Ann Dranger Powers was born to Clarence Ernest and Dolores Mejia Dranger on November 22, 1962 in Springville, NY and departed this life on December 1, 2019 in Lawton, OK at the age of 57 years and 9 days.

Cheryl grew up in Eden, NY, until the family moved to Walters, OK in 1979 where she finished her senior year, graduating from WHS in 1980. She married Vincent Kosechata and to the union 2 daughter, Casey and April, were born. She later married Keith Powers.

In the 1990’s Cheryl attended Platt College in Lawton, completing the nursing program. In the last few years she has worked as a casino and smoke shop cashier and was also employed by the tribe in housing.

Cheryl was a member of Brown Indian Baptist Church south of Walters. She loved horses and animals in general. She enjoyed fishing and spending time on the farm.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Dranger.

Survivors include her mother, Dolores Mejia Dranger of Walters; 2 daughters, Casey Ingrum and April Kosechata both of Walters; 5 grandchildren, Ian Southerland, Courtlynn Southerland, Hayden Nelson, Maci Nelson and Kelton Sutherland; her brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Diane Dranger of North Collins, NY; 3 nephews, Jason, Brandon and Jesse; a niece, Leah; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
