Our school decided to build a food pantry for students when it was brought to our attention that older students were taking the food from their younger siblings that were receiving food from the Backpack Program . The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma sponsors a weekly backpack with food program for elementary age children and their younger siblings. This program however does not provide food for any siblings that might be in Middle or High School.

We have been blessed each year with the support of our student body as we do a competitive food drive to stock the pantry. We are also allowed a small amount of funds from the Regional Food Bank to supplement our pantry. This year the funds have been cut drastically making it even more necessary for the support of our students and community members.

We would love having any donations from the community to help keep our pantry full. Please keep in mind that we are serving children and while we do pack the bag, most kids don’t want a can of black eyed peas. Just last week we had an individual donate two hundred pounds of hamburger to our program. We are so excited to have this to share with our students.

At this time we are serving between eight and ten students weekly, we will never turn a student away who asks for food. Having enough food is essential to staying healthy as we all know. In addition, if you are hungry learning is going to be minimal at best.

Any donations may be dropped off at the High School Office during school hours.
