Walters Public School has a Building Bond Issue - $675,000 and a Transportation Bond - $170,000 on the April 7, 2020 ballot. Tax payer cost is 0% cost increase, based on 0% growth on a 6 year issue.

There are many needs to improve the Middle School building, Administration building needs to be replaced with a new building and the Auditorium is in need of a new HVAC.

Lets look at the need for the administration building. Did you know there was a basement under the administration building? The basement is falling apart and full of mold along with the outside of the building falling apart and is just plain not good nor is it healthy for the administration to work in the building, but thank you for suffering through. This building needs to be torn down and a new one constructed.

The Middle School needs new energy efficient windows all around, removal of asbestos in the building, new floor covering in the halls, new lockers and restrooms that are handicap accessible.

Transportation needs: currently there are 3 rural routes to bus students to school. The rural route busses travel approximately 43,000 miles per year, the school has one Career Tech/Fame route which travels approximately 13,000 miles per year, 3 activity busses which carry’s students to ball games, whether it be football, baseball, basketball, cross country, track, field trips. We need to make sure that our students are in a newer safer buss. The current fleet has high mileage, needing repairs all the time. When spring time comes there are always a shortage on busses that can carry students to the events or field trips.

The Athletic Complex is in need of repair to the box office, as the roof has damage. The field holds water after a good rain needing to put in French Drains to help keep the field dryer. The fence around the baseball field needs to be replaced, since it is the fence that was around the old football field.

This is what is on the ballot:

Proposition #1

*Renovate Middle School; construct a Handicap restroom; replace carpet in hallway; replace existing lockers; new energy efficient windows

*Replace HAVC system in auditorium

*Build new Superintendent Office building

*Minor improvements to Athletic Complex — French drain for football field; repair press box roof

Position #2

*Purchase 2 new busses — 65-71 passenger bus; 53 passenger buss
