Presented to

Roberta Ellis

May 6, 2014 – May 5, 2020

For 6 Years of Dedicated, Loyal Service and Outstanding Leadership As Mayor and Councilwoman

Presented by The City of Walters and The Walters Public Works Authority

A Citation from Senator Chris Kidd was also presented to Roberta for all of her outstanding efforts.

Some of the positive outcomes that Roberta has helped with in our city since becoming a City Council Member At Large. She served 6 years for which she served as Mayor for 2 years.

The City of Walters had several Years of being in chronic debt and ending each month with a minimal balance. However, she advocated and assisted towards paying off several items which were being paid with a line of credit. We are now able to say that for the last 3 years the city finances have become stable and continue to make progress.

In her time on the city council the city has seen the development of 12 new businesses, 8 of which have been in the last 3 years.

The Water Treatment issues have been resolved and there is no longer a need to send out quarterly reminders about poor water quality.

She was able to coordinate with our area Representative and spearhead the naming of the Comanche Code Talker Trail Way in November. She felt it was very important and long over due to recognize our community and our Comanche Tribal Citizens’ for the service to our country.

There has been Disc Golf added to Sultan Park, which has increased traffic, brought in professional tournaments and bolster participation within the park over the past year and half. This has drawn the attention of professionals worldwide to our beautiful Sultan Park!

The Council has added a new sidewalk to Walters Youth Park as well as 15 new lights to promote more safety, activity, and future potential for the Youth Pard. Also, Ross Street around the ball park area has been resurface for higher traffic use.

In addition, I recently endorsed a $45,000.00 REAP Grant for a new Rescue Truck for our Walters Fire Department. It is replacing one that wasn’t reliable enough to make it where in needed to go.

Thank you Roberta for all of your efforts to make Walters a thriving community.

Wes Eidson is now the new Councilman at Large for the City of Walters. He was sworn in on May 5, 2020. Looking forward to seeing what new ideas he may bring to the position.
