Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Wilson of the Valley View #268 Community, are the parents of a baby girl, born Saturday morning, November 3. She has been given the name of Phyllis Jean...The marriage vows of Miss Ruth Munkers of Devol and R. B. Griffin of Randlett were solemnized Saturday afternoon at the First Christian Church parsonage in Walters. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. S. B. Munkers...Mr. and Mrs. Walter Graham are the parents of a daughter born Thursday, November 1. She has been named Patsy Yvonne. Mrs. Graham is the former Miss Ellvine Kerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Kerr of the Union Valley community.

Mr. and Mrs. LaWayne Jones, of Walters, have chosen the name Lance Everett for their son born October 28. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Jones, of Comanche, formerly of Walters, are the paternal grandparents...Marine Pvt. Wayne P. “Mickey” Titchywy, nephew of Mrs. Blanche LeBarre, of Route 1, Walters, is scheduled to depart San Diego, Calif., Nov. 2 aboard the Navy transport USS General D. I. Sultan for Okinawa.

Lakeside Golf Course has a new maintenance building near the headquarters layout, and the building operation was accomplished by the combined efforts of city employees and golf course members. The structure is 36 by 75 feet, a concrete floor, doors and windows with the large service door on the west side...Mr. and Mrs. Henry Woods will be honored on their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, November 11 at the Community Civic Center in Walters. Mr. and Mrs. Woods were married November 13, 1919, in Duncan. They have 33 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren... Walters High School Cheerleaders for this school year are Mechelle Edgmon, Lisa Best, Holly Weldon, Loanna Lorah and Jana Simpson...Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Cromwell announce the birth of a son, Jacob Stewart, on October 30. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Houston. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Cromwell, all of Walters...James Freeman Teakell, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Teakell, of Walters, was recently promoted to SMSGT. He is stationed at Andrews AFB, Maryland, where he is Superintendent of Mental Health of the Malcolm Grow Medical Center.

A major business transaction was closed here Tuesday afternoon through the sale of the Majestic Theatre to Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Burns of Fletcher. The sale price was $22,000.00. The Majestic Theatre has been owned by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jemison for the past 34 years...James Coffer, Seaman 1/c, is at Attu, Alaska in the Aleutian Islands, where he will be stationed for eight months or longer. James joined the navy in June, 1946...Wilburn F. Booher, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. R. Booher of Temple, is in the 24th Infantry Division Headquarters post exchange, located in Kokura, Kyushu, southernmost of the Japanese homeland islands. Corporal Booher entered the army in January, 1946, and prior to overseas shipment, received basic training at Camp Robinson, Arkansas.
