Clint Stafford of Temple closed a deal here during the past week for the purchase of the J. W. Jones’ Phillips 66 Service Station located on State Highway No. 32, just south of the Highway warehouse...Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Crank are parents of a new son born last Wednesday...Miss Robbie Mincey and Avis Pleasant were married Saturday evening, September 29 at the home of Rev. Hutto. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Mincey of the Soldier Valley Community. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant of the Prospect Community.

Albert Smith retired Wednesday, September 30, as Postmaster at Devol at the age of 70 years, closing out a record of 33 years and one month in the postal service--all in one office. He will be succeeded by Mrs. Frank McClendon, as acting Postmistress. The Post Office has been located at Grandfield since the day the tornado swept through the town, knocking down most of the business district, and completely destroying the post office building. The old City Hall is being worked over at full speed this week to get it ready to care for the post office...Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lee Harris, Jr., Walters, have chosen the name Jimmy Lee for their son born September 29..The new grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harris and Harold Hicks, all of Walters... Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McMasters, of Lawton, have chosen the name Jimmy Wilson for their son born September 23. W. E. McMasters, of Walters, is the paternal grandfather... Resignation of Rev. Wm. E. Furnas as Pastor of the First Christian Church in Walters was accepted by the church board Monday evening. He is going to Joplin, Mo.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Scherler, of Walters. Maternal grandparents are Sylvia Smith, of Walters, and Wayne Smith, of Comanche...Ted Green, of Randlett, suffered a broken arm in three places when he was kicked by a horse. He was taken to a hospital in Wichita Falls where he had surgery...Beverly Wampler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wampler, was crowned Junior High Homecoming Queen Tuesday night at the football game. She was escorted by Rodney Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Collins.

The sale of the Dolman Grocery to A. W. Crow, local business man was completed on January 1. The Dolman Grocery was established by Roy Dolman in the summer of 1922. Mr. Crow formerly operated the Crow and the Owl Cafes...Linda Lu was born Thursday, December 19, to Mr. and Mrs. Glen Voegelein of Oklahoma City. Mrs. Voegelein is the former Miss Frances Brown...Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van Pelt, Jr., of Wichita Falls, are the parents of a girl who was born Tuesday, December 17. She has been named Gloria Jean. Mrs. Van Pelt is the former Miss Dorothy Edgemon... An announcement has been received here of the marriage of Mrs. Bernice Maddox and Elmer Holsted, the ceremony having been performed at El Reno Thursday, December 26. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jemison of Temple. Mr. Holsted owned and operated the Temple Drug Store for a number of years. He joined the navy during WWII. He is a brother of Dr A. B. Holsted of Temple...Miss Lena Faye Flippin became the bride of Loyal B. Creswell on Tuesday morning, December 31, at the Baptist Parsonage. Mrs. Creswell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Flippin. Mr. Creswell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Creswell, all of the Union Valley Community.
