Wesley Bills, employee of the Walters light plant, was seriously injured Tuesday evening when the car in which he was riding plunged over the end of a small bridge on Highway 5, five miles south of Walters, where the highway turns east toward Temple. The car was almost completely demolished. He was unconscious and suffered a deep cut over his left eye, one on the side of his head, and numerous other cuts and bruises over the body...Word was received here today of accidental and serious burns received Wednesday night in an oil rig fire by Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Malernee, former residents of Walters. Malernee was burned severely on the face and arms and Mrs. Malernee received bad leg burns...Miss Barbara Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Brown, and John Gerber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Georger Gerber, both of the Ahpeatone community, were married Saturday, August 24, in Lawton. They will make their home in Peoria, Ill.

First Baptist church, Walters, formed the setting for the wedding of Miss Rheu Nell Fudge and Charles Ray Horton, Sunday, August 21. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fudge, of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Bill Meyer, of Walters, announce the birth of their second child, a daughter born August 24 at Comanche Memorial hospital She has been named Cathy Lynn. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Norman, of Temple...Mr. and Mrs. James Kinder, Jr., of Union Valley, have chosen the name Tamela Marie for their new daughter...Larry Lawler, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Lawler, can be addressed as “Colonel” now. He recently completed a course in auctioneering at Mason City, Iowa...B Troop, 2nd Recon, 245th Armor, Walters National Guard unit, was rated top place in the 45th encampment at Ft. Hood...This business of painting the new water tower on South Third street in Walters has got a little out of hand. Not only has a group of Walters high school students tested the painting qualities of the tower, but now the pot-bellied water container sports the sign, “Tomlinson Freshmen.”

Temple city council will meet tonight, Thursday, at 7 p.m. with Bill Royton, new city manager, present. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lindel Zachary, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Orey D. Bales, of Randlett...Mr. and Mrs. Choice Thomas announce the birth of a son August 12, and named Choice D. II. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Choice H. Thomas, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marks, of Lincoln, Neb...Stan and Clarice Butler announce the birth of a daughter, Michele Sherice, born August 21. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Butler, of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Boucher, of Miami, Fla...Dan and Mary Eschler recently returned from a 2 1/2 week trip to Europe. Highlight of the Switzerland tour was a trip to Oberwil, a small village situated in a narrow valley between towering Alps which was the birthplace of Dan’s father, Gottlieb Eschler.

Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Tompkins, Britton, are parents of a new son, named John Andrew, born Sunday, November 16. Mrs. Tompkins is the former Miss Virginia Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Price, who live south of Temple. She is a former member of the Temple school faculty, and a niece to Mrs. J. R. Gossett.
