Miss Marie Gower of the Gregg Community, and Mr. Jesse Murrell of Altus, were united in marriage Saturday. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Gower. They will make their home in Stillwater...Miss Ollie Stapp, Lawton, and Paul Mincey, Walters, were married April 13 at Lawton. The bride is the daughter of W. T. Stapp of the Essaquannahdale Community. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Mincey of the Soldier Valley Community...The wedding of Miss Mildred Weir and Mr. Byron P. Gardner, and Miss Jessie Weir and Mr. Bonnie L. Coppick, was announced last Friday afternoon at a tea hosted by Miss Zella Henderson and Mrs. W. S. Weir. The double wedding occurred January 6 at Wilson, Okla. The brides are sisters.

Andrew Powers, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Powers of Walters, was seriously injured when a 22 caliber rifle he had been working with and sighting, caught in some manner when he started to place it against the wall and discharged before 4 o’clock Friday afternoon...Charles Richey, 23, who manages an ice cream place on South Broadway, shot himself accidentally at 6:30 o’clock Friday afternoon while hunting on a nearby creek...West side of Walters was brushed by a vicious tornado Wednesday evening, which completely destroyed the livestock barn and rodeo arena at the fairgrounds, damaged a number of buildings, and spent its fury locally in Sultan Park, north of the city... Melba Simpson, sophomore student, was elected Drum Major of Walters high school band...Mr. and Mrs. Benny Collins announce the birth of a daughter born May 3 in a Lawton hospital.

The young man was named Wendell Ray. Sgt. Burton is stationed at McChord Field, Wash.
