Free bus transportation for students attending Walters high school during the coming fall term will be inaugurated in September. Two Walters school buses which have hauled students to school for the past two years at a charge of $15 per year, will haul students this year at no cost to the students. Costs this year will be paid to the school district by the state...Miss Dorothy McAlister and William K. Wilson, both of Walters, were married Friday afternoon at in the Baptist parsonage at Waurika. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McAlister, while the groom is the son of Mr. W. E. Wilson...Announcement was made this week of the birth of a baby girl at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis Robertson, who live four miles south of Lawton. She has been named Oma Gay. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rone and J. M. Robertson, all of Walters... Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hannabas are the parents of a baby boy born Thursday, August 9. He has been named Charles Dan. Mrs. Hannabas was formerly Miss Glenna Lokey.

Long-Bell Lumber Co. is going to sell out its material and supplies, close-up shop and move out of Walters. The lumber company had been in business in Walters since about 1915. Carl Meyer has been with the concern since 1933, and has been local manager since 1935...Mr. and Mrs. Leon Davis, of Randlett, announce the birth of a daughter, Carol Lynn, July 30, in a Wichita Falls hospital...Mr. and Mrs. Dale Owens, of Walters, are the parents of a son born at the Walters hospital August 3. He was named Mitchell Dale Owens...A marriage license was issued to Charles E. Downing, 24, of Ft. Will, and Patsy Lorene Mitchell, 18, of Walters...Thomas Alvin Stephens, of Ada, was employed this week as high school math instructor in the Walters school system.

South Boundary, First and Second streets and some scattered streets, comprising 70 blocks, received new tops of oil and chips, applied by city and county employees...Miss Debbie Hartman and Greg Williams exchanged wedding vows Friday, July 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Walters. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hartman, and parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Tom Williams, all of Walters...Marriage licenses were issued to Dennis B. Denham, 24, of Burkburnett, and Lori J. Martin, 17, of Randlett; and Doyle Edward Goss, 18, and Karen Ralynn Yackeschi, 20, both of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Clint Gower have welcomed a baby girl to their home named Kandi Nichole. She is two months old. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Thad Gower., of Temple. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Greenfield, of Walters.

The new Mooney addition, which adjoins the town on the south, was opened this week. The new addition consists of 10 blocks. The lots vary in width from 55 to 75 feet. 108 lots are offered in this addition...Kenneth Dan, was born Oct. 18, to Mr. and Mrs. Coy E. Morris, Los Angeles, Calif. Mrs. Morris is the former Lily Ogilbee of Temple...A son was born Oct. 22, to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ogilbee, Oklahoma City. He was named John Phillip...The organization of a Boy Scout Troop with twenty members was perfected at a meeting here Monday night. Carl Reed is the sponser, Merle Rylant the Scoutmaster, and Austin Richardson will furnish the transportation...Jack Cruse, Gunner’s Mate 1/c, and his wife and little son, Homer Doyle, came last week and are visiting his mother, Mrs. H. C. Cruse. Jack has been stationed at San Pedro, Calif., since last December, and will complete six years’ service in the navy Nov. 12. He participated in many maneuvers and battles during his long service in the Pacific theater.
