Daniel of the Lincoln Valley Community, announce the marriage of their daughter, Jessie, to Alvis Vardell of Walters last Saturday evening... Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Fowler have announced the arrival of a baby boy at their home on March 14. He has been named Horace Onan, Jr...Twenty-seven rounds of boxing will be presented in the Grand Theatre here Friday evening. The two 10-round main events will pit the widely known Kit “Skeet” Granite, 135 pounder, against Arkansas Haines, Hobart, 135 pounds. In the other main event, Virgil Hendrix of Lawton will meet Guy Hewett, widely known Cotton County boy. Hendrix weighs 160 and Hewett 167...Pouring of concrete on the one-half mile strip of U. S. Highway 70 through the north part ofWalters was completed Wednesday by the contractors. They will soon start work on the three mile strip from Walters east.

Walters got a swimming pool manager-lifeguard and a fireman combined in one big stroke Tuesday night when the City Council employed Houston (Sonny) Sansome, 21 years of age, to handle the divided duty work... Delmas Thorne, one-time Walters high school football luminary, was named one of three captains of the Northeast Louisiana State College’s football Indian for the coming season... Margaret Ann Barbee, Walters High School Sophomore, was chosen to represent this area in the annual Odd Fellow Lodge sponsored Youth Pilgrimage to the United Nations in the final phase of an elimination contest Tuesday night at the school auditorium...Ronald Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Wright, has enlisted for three years in the armed services in the radio and carrier repair service...A marriage license was issued to John Conrad Adams, 18, Devol, and Shirley Pauline Adams, 16, Randlett.

A marriage license was issued to Paul C. Whitehead, 60, Temple, and Annie Whitehead, 49, Walters...Temple High School will have three Valedictorians this year. They are: Cathy Lair, daughter of Mrs. Wilma Walker; Pamela Glasgow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lindel Glasgow; and Carla Hines, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Les Hines. Ila Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monk Simpson is Salutatorian... Miss Mary Elizabeth Sullivan and Gordon Wayne Langford will exchange wedding vows Saturday, March 22, in the Grierson Hill Chapel, Ft. Sill. The bride is the daughter of M/Sgt. (Ret.) and Mrs. Theodore T. Sullivan, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Velma Langford, Walters.

His stock consists of automotive parts, household appliances, paints and related items...Mrs. Thomas J. Hanifen arrived in Tokyo June 1, completing the trip from Seattle to Japan in 8 days and 20 hours via the northern route, according to her mother, Mrs. T. W. Jensen. At Seattle she visited her husband’s mother. Her husband, Captain Hanifen, is in the army intelligence department. Mrs. Hanifen will remain in Japan a year... Miss Marie Gandy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Gandy, Bethany, and granddaughter of Mrs. Effie Gandy and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Lovelace of Temple, was married May 29 to Darwin Coody, son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Coody, Bethany. Miss Janell Lovelace of Temple, cousin of the bride, was a bridesmaid.
