Mr. and Mrs. Fred Claiborne of Sayre, have announced the arrival of a baby boy born March 9 at Elk City. They have named him Eddie Ray. Mrs. Claiborne is the sister of Mrs. Sherb Fisk and Miss Shirley Haskins, and Mr. Claiborne is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Claiborne, northeast of town...Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith, who reside five miles west of Walters, are the parents of a baby boy born March 2. They have named him Charles Douglas... The marriage of Miss Bonnie Williams and Jack Lyons, both of Walters, were married March 9, at the First Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. J. E. Williams of Geronimo. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Fannie Peery of Walters... Organization of a City Bowling League, composed of six teams, was underway here this week. League competition will be held at the bowling alley in the Pastime Club...Announcement was made this week by the Neel-Way company that Gordon Thomas, formerly of Burkburnett, is now associated with that concern as embalmer and funeral director, succeeding L. D. Simmons who has resigned. He is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. W. Crooks of Walters.

The Temple Board of Education accepted the resignation Monday night from Lewis K. Knight, Vocational Agriculture instructor for the past 13 years, and Richard Carey, Band Director the past two years...The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rogers in the 700 block of West Colorado street was a complete loss to fire Wednesday night shortly before midnight, according to Willard Teakell, Fire Chief. Occupants of the home were in Wichita Falls at the time. Contents of the house were also completely lost...Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Hise, of Randlett, announce the birth of a baby daughter last Friday, March 4, in a Wichita Falls hospital...The family of J. B. Stevens, of Devol, enjoyed a reunion in the community building Saturday, the occasion being in honor of Mr. Stevens’ 82nd birthday...James R. Sanders, High School Principal, Ralph Whiteley, Junior High School Principal and Mrs. Beatrice Taylor, Elementary Principal, were all re-hired by the Walters Board of Education Monday night.

A reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. William F. Crow, of Temple, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary, was given by their children on February 10, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Smith. William F. Crow and Lucy Lee Haygood were married February 14, 1930, in the home of Emma Haygood, mother of the bride, at Jester, Oklahoma... One more landmark of the Randlett Community fell victim Thursday night to fire which completely destroyed the A. L. Patterson home in the center of the town. The house was vacant at the time...A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Thomas on March 2, and named Jessie Oran. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Reed of the Red Store Community, and Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Lawrence, of Temple...G. C. Beavers, Sr., a resident of Walters for over 30 years, recently celebrated his 95th birthday. The family held a party for him at Burkburnett. He is now residing at the Hickory Elm Convalescent Center in Burkburnett.

Michaels-Hill post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars was named after three local heroes of World War II who fell in line of duty: First Lieutenant James A. Michael, Staff Sergeant Oliver C. Michael and Tech. Sergeant Alfred W. Hill...Mr. and Mrs. Shular Powell have returned from Hillsboro, Texas, and are again operating their cafe 2nd door north of the Majestic Theatre...A son, Terry Edward, was born in the Holsted maternity ward here Friday, June 6, to Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Lipscomb of Temple Route 1... Jo Ann Reece, 14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Reece, who live 2 miles west of Temple, was taken to the Wichita Falls hospital Friday morning. Jo Ann got her left leg broken above her ankle and three severe cuts when she was dragged off of her horse which ran against a fence...In the Church of Christ in Temple Friday evening, June 6, Miss Melba Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Millard Smith of Temple, was married to Donald Dewayne Irvin, son of Mr. A. O. Irvin of Walters.
