Lakeside Golf Course held its annual meeting at the clubhouse on August 29, 2019. A blessing was asked by Clint Hart and a variety of deserts, tea and coffee were served to 26 members and community supporters.
The meeting was called to order by President Stacy Abbe and the discussion began. General golf course items were discussed including care and condition of the greens. It was agreed by all present who play golf that the only way to attract players outside of Walters is to offer a course with good playable greens. Mayor, Roberta Sanders said, “it all comes down to money.” Member Ronald Red Elk shared the offer made in the Spring for members to match funds with the City of Walters to pay for aerating the greens which was needed at that time. The offer was not accepted. Other suggestions of more Couples Scrambles and suggestions of additional fund raisers to be held on a regular basis were discussed. There was much back and forth conversation with the conclusion being to work toward a plan for implementation of the suggestions made this evening.
The next order of business was the election of officers: Retiring from the Board was Jennifer Carroll, Secretary/ Treasurer. President Abbe called for nominations to fill three vacancies for the 2019-2020 playing year. By- laws of the Lakeside Golf Association require five board members to serve at all times.
Machelle Abbe was elected to take on the responsibilities of Secretary /Treasurer with the two remaining position being filled by Gordon King and Roxanna Keehn.
Rates will remain the same for the playing year which runs from September 2019 through August 2020. Rates are $420.00 / per year for unlimited golf. Amount can be paid in full or by sending 12 post dated checks in the amount of $35.00. Dues can either be paid at City Hall or to Machelle Abbe @181217 N 2660 Rd, Walters, Oklahoma.
With no further business the meeting adjourned. The Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who took time to attend and for the continuing strong support of Lakeside Golf Course.
