Confession Time

just can’t take it no more, I have somethin’ to get off my chest! It may be that some of y’all may have heard me share somethin’ like this before. It’s time I cowboy up and confess somethin’ to y’all. I have an addiction. Yep, this addiction has affected my life in ways that I’m sure many just can't comprehend. Now, I know, some of you are thinking, “I knew it, “Wes done went and got himself hooked on somethun.” Yep, none of us are above it. We’re all human. And this addiction escalated to an even higher level about 24 years ago.

I’ve figured out that I just can’t hide it so I am not even going to try. You might be amazed to know that I actually first got hooked back in the fall of 1970. Several found out about it back on November 15 of that year. It has altered my whole thinking process. It has affected my home, my marriage, my family, my relationships, my work; you might say it has taken hold of my whole life. It just consumes me like nothing I’ve ever encountered. I am writing this letter to set the record straight:

Hello, my name is Wes Kinder, and I’m addicted to Jesus Christ. You might say, I’m a follower of Jesus! There, I said it. Jesus consumes me. Now I feel so much better. Oh, boy! Jesus is Lord!

I know I had some of y’all on the edge of your seat. Trouble is, some of y’all are thinking: “Oh…, I get it, his addiction is only Jesus.” Only Jesus died for us so that we may live. Only Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus is the only way.

Jesus gave us two great commandments:

First, we are to Love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Secondly, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves.

But then why is it sometimes so difficult to tell others (my neighbors) about how I love Jesus? After all, He only came from Heaven to earth to show the way, from the earth to the cross my debt to pay, from the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky… Lord, why do we, at times, not want to lift Your name on high?

Maybe it is because we don’t do the first part first. We love God, but we don’t quite love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength! It could be said that we don’t truly follow Him. We put other “stuff” ahead of Him. It may be good and okay stuff, but if that stuff gets ahead of God, then it becomes not so good stuff. It may be that it is high time we rearrange our priorities!

And we must tell others about Him. People need the Lord. But why are so many convinced they don’t. I will admit, I get frustrated when I hear someone tell me that hell was good enough for good ole’ dad and so it’s gonna be good enough for me. I just want to be like that lady on the commercial, “No, that’s not how it works, that’s not how any of this works!”

I do know that if I never tell others about Jesus then it is possible that they will never have the opportunity to know Christ and His love!

Paul writes in Colossians 1:17-18: “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.” (nasb)

In reading what Paul wrote, we can see that Paul was addicted to Jesus!

Don’t wait, turn the reins of your life over to the One who paid it all!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And pray for rain!
