Have you ever really thought about just what the word “Greed” means? Well the definition is this: “intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, material things or power.”

Our obsession with stuff carries a hefty price tag. We spend 110 percent of our disposable income trying to manage debt. Who can keep up? No one can! We are warned in Luke 12: 15, it says: “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” (KJV).

Greed comes in many forms. There is Greed for approval. Greed for Applause. Greed for status. Greed has many faces but speaks one language: the language of wanting more. Wise was the one who wrote, “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income.”

The only way to feel full is to feel fulfilled. The only way to feel fulfilled is to understand that everything we have comes from God – and He gives us exactly what we need. Not what we want or what we think we got too had, but what we need. And all of it is on loan. He is just letting us borrow it while we are here on earth. One day we will have to give it all back before checking in at heaven’s door.
