Early Monday morning, December 2, 2019 a call came into the Sheriff’s office of a burglary that had taken place at MedStation Medical Marijuana Dispensary in Devol.

Upon arrival Under Sheriff Gary Whittington spoke with David Hambrook (manager/maintenance/grower), Melissa Hambrook, Olivia Adams employees and Deputy Clay Adams.Melissa and David gave a brief description of what happened and showed Under Sheriff Whittington where the thief broke in.

On the west side of the building there was evidence of the broken/mangled door, with splintered wood on the ground as well as pry marks on the door and door frame along with some blood. Entering what looked like a kitchen, immediately to the left a metal cabinet had been pried open and emptied of its contents, which were verified by an inventory list supplied by the Hambrook.

Everyone went over to the “dry house”. On the make shift landing was the pad block that had been cut. The door, door handle and dead bolt lock was mangled. The “dry house” held approximately ten – fifteen pounds of marijuana that was harvested Thursday/Friday before.

With the surveillance video furnished by Hambrook prior to power outage, a dark color vehicle could be seen driving north on Highway 36, turning east onto EW 1990 then disappears from view. Several minutes later the same vehicle can be seen driving west on EW 1990, going across Highway 36. The vehicle is clearly seen turning into the adjacent property, pulling in behind a gated area. Around 1:20 am the power went off just after seeing movement behind where the vehicle pulled in.

Upon arrival of Sheriff Tim King and Captain Liming talked with reporting parties went to the last place the vehicle had been seen on the adjacent property prior to the electricity going out, they found two spent casings from a .243 caliber and two spent casings from a .22 caliber.

Sheriff King, Under Sheriff Gary Whittington and Captain Liming went to Wichita County, TX for assistance in a search warrant to be served on Kinley Petcoff. Wichita County had eyes on the property and confirmed Petcoff was there.

The search warrant resulted in the stolen marijuana and the rifle used in the commission of a crime.

Petcoff confessed to the break in and stealing all the marijuana as well as shooting out the two insulators and one transformer attempting to shut off electrical power at MedStation. Petcoff is currently being held in the Wichita County Jail.
