Late on Monday, January 27, 2020 approximately 2320 hours, Captain Teague Liming, was sitting approximately eighth of a mile west of the Hwy 277 and Hwy 5 Intersection in Walters, OK. He heard an extremely loud exhaust that did not change in volume as it approached, went through, and continued past he Hwy 277 and Hwy 5 junction. The vehicle continued east bound on Hwy 5, as Liming caught up the exhaust got louder. At 3 miles west of Walters Liming got close enough to see that there was no licensed plate on the vehicle and he instate the traffic stop. The vehicle stopped on the east bound shoulder and he exited his unit. As soon as dismounting his vehicle the vehicle began to flee. Undersheriff Gary Whittington was backing Liming on the traffic stop and proceeded after the vehicle as it fled the stop. After a mile dispatch was notified that the vehicle was not stopping and the Sheriff’s Department was in pursuit. Lieutenant Benjamin Lehew fell in behind Liming as they approached 2 miles west of Walters. Speeds continued to climb, when law enforcement reached 7th St. in the City of Walters speeds were approximately 100 miles per hour. The vehicle continued eat bound without regard to surrounding traffic. The vehicle drove east in the west bound land and attempted to block Undersheriff Whittington several times. Several other citizens were forced off the highway by the vehicle fleeing law enforcement. As law enforcement approached the City of Comanche dispatch advised that Comanche Police Department had a road block situated. The vehicle swerved to avoid the spike strips, lost control at the corner of N 2810 Rd. Undersheriff Whittington attempted to use his patrol unit to block their escape, as Liming came around and blocked them from the front, and Lieutenant Lehew pulled in behind them. Completely blocking them in. At that time Lieutenant Lehew exited his vehicle just before the vehicle forced itself free driving in reverse toward Lieutenant Lehew. At that point Liming heard several shots fired. The vehicle continued to roll backwards slowly, Liming approached the vehicle shouting to stop the vehicle. Neither driver nor passenger responded at first. Finally the female driver (Ila Combs) pulled the emergency brake on the vehicle bring it to a stop. Liming then opened the driver’s door and removed the driver. As she was taken into custody by Undersheriff Whittington, Liming then went to the passenger side and proceeded to take him into custody. The male passenger (Ronald Coleman II) informed Liming that he had been shot in his leg at which time Liming applied a tourniquet to his right leg. The ambulances took both passenger and driver to Duncan Regional Hospital. After further investigation of the vehicle, the VIN cam back as stolen out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
