Tim King, former undersheriff of Cotton County, was sworn in as Interim Sheriff late Monday afternoon, after the suspension of Kent Simpson. King worked under sheriff Paul Jeffery. King is working on getting things in line and good working order and making some staff changes.

Cotton County Commissioners met in regular session Monday, June 10th. Shortly after the meeting opened the Commissioners went into executive session to discuss what action needed to be taken on the Sheriff’s Department. Upon returning to the open meeting they had approved the petition and sent it to Judge Flanagan to rule on. Paper work was filed in the Cotton County Court Clerks office to suspend Sheriff Simpson. A judge will hear the case later on in the year.
