We Need a Good Shepherd and a Godly Heart

You know, sheep are not smart at all. They have a tendency to wander around getting into creeks or ponds and when their wool has grown heavy and they get wet they drown. They has no sense of direction and so they need a shepherd to lead them to the calm water and so do we. We are like sheep sometimes and also have a tendency to be swept away by the swift waters of life that we should avoid. We have no deffense against the evil mountain lion who prowls around searching for something that he might devour.

Isaiah 53: 6 says: “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

That verse reminds us that we need a shepherd to care for us and to guide us. And Jesus is that Shepherd. The Shepherd who lays down his life for his sheep, who protects, provides and possesses his sheep.

Psalm 23 “The Lord is my Shepherd.”

In the New Testament Jesus is called the good shepherd. John 10: 14 &15.

The Lord promises to give us the desires of our hearts, but many people take that out of context forgetting that their own mindset plays a vital part in bringing it to fruition. Christians should rejoice in God and desire to walk in obedience. The Lord must have first place in your life. Commit your way to the Lord and allow Him to change any aspect of your ambition that is not His will. Remember that when He doesn’t answer a prayer as you wished, it is for a reason, but you are still one of His sheep.

Trust in Him. God is merciful, all – knowing, kind, and generous. You can trust Him with all your hopes and dreams. Resting in the Lord is trusting Him to answer prayers in His timing or transform your aspirations so they conform to His will. Wait on the Lord. He waited three decades before He begin His three year ministry on earth. Waiting is one of the main principles of Christian living. He longs to give His sheep abundant blessings and the fullness of joy. Follow His guidance faithfully and remember when you surrender to Him will you experience God’s best for your life. Remember, regardless of what you think, you are one of His sheep and He is the Shepherd. Pray and ask Him to help guide you to smooth waters.

Philippians 4: 19 says: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
