Most people think 4-H is all about Cows and Cooking but today’s 4-H has many more opportunities including Robotics. For the last 3 months over 15 youth have been learning how to build and operate Lego Robots. These youth ranging from 3rd grade to 12th grade have met in the beginning every other week to twice a week. These youth spent hours measuring and calculating to program their robots for the State 4-H Robotics Contest. This year’s State 4-H Robotics Contest was held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Endeavor Building on Oklahoma State University Campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This year’s them was space. Youth had to train the robots to maneuver over craters, move meteors, recover satellites, and retrieve the spaceship. Cotton County had 3 Jr. 4-H Teams and 1 Sr. 4-H Team. The Sr. 4-H Team place 2nd in their division. These youth are all excited about continuing their training next month. 4-H Robtics Club will resume their practice on January 14, 2020.
