The Walters Chamber of Commerce board met in regular session on September 14th, 2020 at Noon, at the Walters Public Library, located at 202 N. Broadway in Walters, Oklahoma. The meeting was called to order by Board President William McKay.
Item #1---Board Members present were: Joi Bellamy, Benne Brewer, Jack Jacob, William McKay, Gina Suson, Brantley Tillery and Wendy Zimmerman. Board Members Sheri Davis, Lacy Edgmon, Wes Edison, Stesha Kerr, and Dawn Schilling were unable to attend.
Item #2--Chamber member Kaila Williams (COTTON ELECTRIC) was also present.
Item #3---No visitors were present
Item #4---Wendy Zimmerman made a motion to approve the August, 2020 meeting minutes. Jack Jacob seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #5---Benne Brewer made a motion to approve the August, 2020 Treasurer’s reports. Brantley Tillery seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #6---The Board discussed and considered approval of Dawn Schilling’s Letter of Resignation. Gina Suson made a motion to accept Dawn’s Letter of Resignation. Benne Brewer seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #7---The Board discussed and considered approval of Sheri Davis’ Letter of Resignation. Wendy Zimmerman made a motion to accept Sheri’s Letter of Resignation. Benne Brewer seconded the motion. The vote was: Ayes: All Nays: None
Item #8—The Board heard nominations to fill Ms. Schilling’s and Ms. Davis’ Board seats. Joi Bellamy made a motion to nominate Kaila Williams to fill Ms. Davis’ seat. Gina Suson seconded the motion. Ms. Williams accepted the Board position.
Item #9--Wes Eidson was scheduled to update the board with progress for the CAR CRUZ, scheduled for October 3rd. In Mr. Eidson’s absence, William McKay & Jack Jacob, of the Car Cruz Committee, stated that everything was going according to schedule. There will be CAR CRUZ Planning Meetings each Monday, @ 6:30 pm, at the Chamber office, located at 116 N. Broadway, Walters.
Item #10---President William McKay appointed a CITIZEN OF THE YEAR committee, consisting of Joi Bellamy, Benne Brewer, Jack Jacob, Gina Suson, & Wendy Zimmerman. Nominations will be received after the CAR CRUZ. More information will be made available as soon as it starts.
Item #11-- There were no announcements regarding Advertising/Economic development
Item # 12—Regarding New Business, Joi Bellamy asked about when to begin receiving suggestions for the theme for the Christmas Parade, scheduled for Dec. 5th. This will also start after the CAR CRUZ festivities are finished. William McKay stated that there will be a BANQUET committee formed in the October meeting.
Item #13--President William McKay declared the meeting adjourned. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Monday, October 12th, at noon, at the Walters Public Library.
