October Students of the Month

Mina Murphy

Mina is the daughter of Elisabeth and the late Mike Murphy. She is a senior this year and is concurrently enrolled in college classes. Mina is hard working and conscientious. This is reflected in her involvement in yearbook and AG.

“She never gives up on a problem no matter how challenging it is. She is not afraid to ask questions when she does not understand a concept.” Kimberly Evans

Glory Collins

Glory is a junior this year and is very active in choir. She is a very bright well rounded student. Glory is a member of National Honor Society and Student Council.

“Glory has the highest average in the Chemistry class and works meticulously to make sure her work represents her best effort.” John Nease

Sky’Lynn Fletcher

Sky’Lynn is a sophomore cheerleader and has been in vocal music since 6th grade. She is a born leader and a great example. She always goes above and beyond what is expected of her in all of her classes.

“She will do anything for me without hesitation. She is instrumental in leading her voice part in the choir and works with others to encourage and promote them.” Charla Dedmon

Peyton Dowlen

Peyton is the freshman son of Braylin Dowlen and Meagan Dowlen. He is quiet good hearted young man that loves to hunt and fish. Rumor has it he is an excellent shot!

“ We were doing discovery speeches in class in which the students had to speak about what made them unique. Peyton was the first to volunteer. He stepped outside of his comfort zone. I was very proud of him.” John Robinson

Lucky student of the month: Aaliyah Villarreal

Alliyah is the freshman daughter of Tim and Alashe Lewis. Alliyah always has a smile on her face and is a joy to be around. She is very active in sports. She participates in softball, basketball, track, cross country, competitive cheer as well as cheering for WJH.

Teacher/Staff of the Month

Mrs. Amy Roberts has lived in Walters all of her life. Her children, Kari and Katy, are 4th generation Walters Blue Devils. She has been married to David Roberts for 20 wonderful years and loves to spend all the time she can with her grandson Parker. Amy has been employed by Walters Public Schools for 13 years and has loved every minute of it!

“Amy Roberts is the backbone of Walters High School. She truly has a servant’s heart and volunteers for additional needs at the school without a second thought! Amy is always happy and willing to do anything for our students and staff and is a genuine joy to work with.”

Mrs. Kimberly Terry arrived in Walters three years ago. She graduated from East Central University and began her teaching career in 2011. However, she has previously worked in various capacities in education for over 20 years. Mrs. Terry is currently the Special Education Director for our school district and supervises the Resource Lab for grades 6-12, but also teaches a class of sixth grade reading. She is an avid football fan and assists her husband in managing the junior high and high school football teams. Together, they are the proud parents of two sons, a daughter, daughter-in-law and three beautiful grandchildren. In her spare time, Mrs. Terry enjoys spending time with her family, going to sporting events and loving on her grandbabies! Mrs. Terry believes every student has the ability to learn and she is passionate about providing them the support needed to be successful.
