Armistice Day, Veterans Day & Frank Buckles

Veteran’s Day was established in 1919 to celebrate the end of World War I. The World War I Armistice was signed on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918, officially ending the war. It was originally called “Armistice Day”. In 1954 Armistice Day was changed to Veteran’s Day in order to honor all veterans.
