OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 28, 2020 -- Homeowners in Oklahoma may soon have a new way to manage power outages.

Solar Power of Oklahoma (SPO) has earned a certification from Tesla to install the company’s trademarked Powerwall. The Tesla Powerwall allows users to store solar energy in their homes, which can be utilized on cloudy days or during power outages.

Installation of the Tesla Powerwall requires a special certification, a rigorous process that is overseen by the company.

“Tesla requires strict adherence to quality, permitting and inspection requirements,” said J.W. Peters, president of Solar Power of Oklahoma. “We’re proud to partner with Tesla to bring this product to Oklahoma. The recent power outages certainly demonstrate how beneficial a power storage option can be for home and business owners.”

Solar generation systems provide a long-term solution to saving money on electric bills for both home and business owners. On average, homeowners with solar power installed increase their residential property value by at least $15,000 and can expect to save up to 65% on electric costs over the lifetime of their system.

Financing options and tax incentives are available to invest in a solar generation system at no money down, making it a viable option for a wide range of consumers. There is currently a 26% federal tax credit for solar installation, which now runs through the end of 2022.

“The best time to install solar is right now,” Peters said. “Solar can work independently or in conjunction with most current energy systems, bringing stability to your utility service and reducing your home’s carbon footprint. Our solar advisors work directly with homeowners to assess whether or not solar is the best option for each individual. We do that by reviewing the homeowners’ current system and energy use to measure out how long it will take for the system to pay for itself. Most homeowners see a 100% return on their investment in 9-10 years, and all systems come with a 25-year warranty.”

Founded in 2017, Solar Power of Oklahoma is fully owned and operated in Oklahoma. The company’s solar advisors work with home and business owners to custom design solar generation systems, which are then installed by SPO installers. Over the past 3.5 years of business, Solar Power of Oklahoma has installed over 1,200 solar generation systems in Oklahoma, more than any other Oklahoma-based solar company.
