Carol Henry will be home in a few days from Sangus, Calif., where he has stayed on the Hoot Gibson ranch when not at rodeos. While in California he met Will Rogers and talked with him just two days before Rogers and Wiley Post left California for their flight to Alaska...The marriage of Miss Nanie Carty and Marshall Waters was solemnized Thursday at the Presbyterian church in Walters. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Carty of Temple, and the groom is the son of W. H. Waters of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Howard A. Way have announced the birth of a daughter, born Wednesday, September 11, at a Lawton hospital...Mrs. Wiley Post and her father, D. J. Laine, visited in the home of Joe Post and family over the weekend. They were enroute from the Laine home in Sweetwater, Texas, to Maysville where they will visit the parents of Mr. Post.

Marriage vows were exchanged Friday at 10 a.m. by Miss Juanita Lavonne Mason, of Guymon, and Dewayne High, of Walters, in the chapel of the First Baptist church in Guymon. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gomer High, of Walters...The Western Auto store of Walters reopened Thursday morning under the ownership of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Teakell. The Teakells purchased the interest of H. E. Hicks, who has owned and operated the store here for many years...A son, Roy Dale, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wilkerson, of Devol, August 28 in Wichita Falls...Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hoar, of Walters, marked their 55th wedding anniversary Tuesday, Sept. 6, which also was the latter’s birthday...Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sylvester, of Walters, announce the marriage of their daughter, Clydene, to Cladie James Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Thomas, of Route 2, Walters. Double ring vows were exchanged Sept. 3 at Wichita Falls...W. E. McMasters borrowed a truck to move a family’s furniture from the farm east of the city into town Tuesday and set off an extensive search for a stolen vehicle. McMasters arranged with Truman Smith, city police, to use his truck, and when he got ready for it, climbed into what he believed to be the right one and proceeded to pick up the furniture. It seems as though McMasters was a block or so away from the right truck when he drove away, and the rightful owner was considerably concerned when he discovered his was missing.

As a result of the thunderstorm September 2, lightning struck the home of Edward and Patti Calfy, northeast of the city. The home and all of their belongings were lost... County officers and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers lost little time in having two suspects in custody Tuesday night following the nine o’clock armed robbery of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Cornelius at their store in Cookietown. Officers said the couple was not harmed in the action, but pretty well scared by the events that took place...Mr. and Mrs. Claud Doty will be honored with a reception September 14, in the Empire Room of the First Savings and Loan at Burkburnett in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary. Claud Doty and Mary Bell Stelzer were married September 14, 1920, in Hobart, Okla. In 1926 they moved to the Devol community.
