A daughter, Wanda Jean, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jake Gore...The marriage of Miss Mable Jean Newby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Newby, and Sam Collins, of Lawton, was solemnized Saturday at the Newby home..Announcement was made this week of the marriage of Miss Katie Lou Rutledge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. V. Rutledge, and Howard Ritchie, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Ritchie, which took place at Duncan, August 26...Theodore Armon, Route 5, enlisted in the army the last of August. He will be in the field artillery at Fort Sill...Patrons of the Union Valley School District voted Monday to issue bonds to the amount of $4,995 for the construction of an auditorium for school and community purposes. The patrons pay 55 per cent of the cost, and the Federal government grants 45 per cent of the final outlay.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hooker, Walters, announce the marriage of their daughter, Avanell, to Gene Ballard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth E. Ballard, also of Walters. The couple was united in marriage on August 23, at Wichita Falls, Texas... Army Pvt. Clyde L. Abbe, son of Mrs. Ruth Doyal, Walters, recently arrived in Greenland and is now a member of the U. S. Army Transportation Terminal at Thule Air Base...Mr. and Mrs. Travis Swinford, Walters, have chosen the name Danny Paul for their son born August 24. The new mother is the former Miss Joan Bennett...A 12 year old Temple youth received a fractured shoulder, bruises and contusions last Thursday morning when he fell from a pickup truck and was apparently then run over by an empty cotton trailer. Billy Wayne Payne, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester D. Payne, was reported in good condition Tuesday morning in a Waurika hospital...Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Burgess, St. Louis, Missouri, announce the birth of a son, Robert Kent, born August 18. Mrs. Burgess is the former Miss Frankie Snyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Waters...Rock Island Lines, which has no passenger service in Walters, and freight service limited to a minimum, has another step in motion to further reduce its operation for the community. L. J. Purkey, agent at Walters for many years, is scheduled to be at Walters two days weekly, and at Comanche three days each week.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Kelley. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Noland, all of Walters...Miss Kelly Hooper, 1980 Sweetheart of the Temple Future Farmers of America chapter, will compete September 20 with over 100 other chapter Sweethearts for the state wide title.

Page...Mrs. Jim Bizzell, assisted by Mrs. Harry Bizzell, Shirley, Francis and Miss Opal Harper, entertained with a tea Friday afternoon, November 28 in honor of Mrs. Nancy Bizzell’s 80th birthday. Mother Bizzell is one of the old timers, having homesteaded the farm home on the hill two and one-half miles north of Temple in 1902...Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Thompson, Corpus Christi, Texas, are parents of a baby boy born November 25, at Corpus Christi. Mrs. Thompson is the former Miss Pauline Brown.
