Even though Jo Nell Shepherd, two year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shepherd, took an early morning fall from the upper story window of their residence on East Colorado street, she was able to go to town with her father at breakfast time, apparently unmindful of her miraculous escape from injury...Mrs. Monta Balding, of Walters, was chosen to succeed Mrs. Howard S. Way as Librarian for the Walters Public Library...Lorene High, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom High, who live near Walters, was bitten through the clothing in her side by a water mocassin while on an outing at Washington Lake about nine miles southwest of Walters Wednesday. She is resting well from treatment... Announcement has been made of the marriage of Miss Norma Paine of Trousdale, Okla., to John E. Woodward, the son of Mrs. R. S. Rowan, of southeast of Walters, on August 10, at Trousdale. John, a teacher, was raised in Walters and graduated from Walters high school.

Walters Motor Company, Ford and Mercury dealer in this city, closed down its mechanical department Thursday morning, and the owners announced they were voluntarily going out of business here. Earl Peterman, manager and partner of the dealership, said he and Frank Miller, of Lindsay, his partner, agreed Wednesday they would no longer operate the business in Walters. Walters Motor Co. celebrated its fifth anniversary of business in Walters a few months ago...Mr. and Mrs. Bob Shelly, Walters, have chosen the name Jerri Lynne for their daughter born August 8. The new mother is the former Betty Ruth Henderson...A/2c and Mrs. Norman R. Glasscock, Bentwater, England, have chosen the name Norman Ray, Jr. for their son born August 5. The new mother is the former Joan Nichols... Master Sergeant Albert Vardell, who resigned the position of administrator of Walters national guard unit recently, has been named to the same office with a guard unit at Beggs...A high-flying plane which broke the sound barrier over Walters Thursday morning while hurtling across the sky from east to west, shattered a large plate glass window at the county ASC office on North Broadway, and caused cracks to show up in another window. Keith and Sheila Copass announce the birth of a son, born August 1, and named David Anthony. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Knightstep. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dean Copass...Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sanderson have a new baby girl born August 9, and named Grace Marie. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Sanderson, of Walters. Maternal greatgrandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Scott, of Lawton, and Phoeby Fannon, of Temple...Double ring wedding vows were exchanged between Miss Rebecca Louise Adkins and Richard Lee Potter July 19 in the old Adkins home at 103 East Kansas street. The bride is the daughter of Dan C. Adkins, of Bella Vista, Ark., and Mrs. V. C. Davis, of Walters. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Potter, of Walters.

Private J. B. Darity, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Darity, of Route 2 Temple, is now serving with the 73rd Engineer Light Equipment company, Fukuoka, Japan, as a clerk. Private Darity enlisted in the army September 16, 1946, at Ft. Sill, Okla..

..Arnold Elton Noblitt, son of Olie W. Noblitt, Temple Route 1, received his discharge from the U.S. Navy November 4 at the U.S. Naval personnel separation center, San Diego, Calif...A son, who has been named David Orrin, was born Sunday, November 2, to Dr. and Mrs. Orrin W. Pearson of St. Cloud, Minn. Mrs. Pearson is the former Miss Mildred Knox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knox of Temple...The Temple school band, which was reorganized this year after the war years layoff, will make its first public appearance at the regular chapel program Thursday afternoon. Rev. Leroy Simmons is the conductor.
