Earl Pinkerton, who has been associated with Cotton County School systems for the past several years, was appointed Monday by the County Commissioners to fill the unexpired term of Jay F. Smith who resigned to accept the office of Superintendent of the Walters Public Schools... Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Austin of Walters celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Sunday with a family reunion held at Sultan Park. Mr. and Mrs. Austin have resided in Cotton County for 34 years...It was announced recently that Miss Geneva Blevins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Blevins of Temple, and A. J. Peck, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Peck of Walters, were married January 23 in Ardmore...Copeland Market & Grocery has been re-opened as the E. & B. Market & Grocery.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Cathey were honored with a dinner Sunday, July 31, at Medicine Park, on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Cathey were married July 28, 1900, in Rover, Ark...Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harrison, of Wichita Falls, announce the birth of a daughter, July 27 in a Wichita Falls hospital. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Rhoads, of Randlett...Callie Mae Bobo, Court Clerk, was in Dallas over the weekend attending a national reunion of WAVES. The occasion was the 18th anniversary of the organization of WAVES... Reaves Nahwooksy, Walters, was among four candidates in this area receiving OU Degrees at the University of Oklahoma Sunday, August 7. He received a Master of Education... Ace’s All-Stars, an aggregation of area Indians, were named the champions of a double elimination softball tournament at Arlington, Texas, last weekend. The All-stars beat out Oklahoma Tile team in the semi-finals, and went on to win over Indian Canyon team...Coach Clint Ponder, of Walters High School Blue Devils football team, said a meeting of prospective squad members will be held Friday evening. Morris Philpott, new Assistant Coach, will join Ponder in this meeting. Philpott is a former Blue Devil player.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Walker, Jr., of Walters. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lagaly, of El Reno...Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Lee Fletcher, Walters, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Saturday, August 9, in the Cotton Electric Civic Room. Jimmie Lee Fletcher and Miss Virginia King were married at the Walters Baptist Church parsonage...Joseph A. and Geraldine Gray announce the arrival of a baby girl, Adrian Jeanette, born July 29. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Chockpoyah, of Walters. Paternal grandfather is Linwood, Gray, of Richmond, Va...The Devol Post Office has a new postmaster. Alvis R. McClure, of Davidson, has been named the new Postmaster filling the vacancy made when Beatrice McClendon retired.

Mrs. Minick is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Watkins of Temple. Mr. Minick is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Minick of Burkburnett.
