Adam L. Hunt has resigned as Superintendent of Schools in Walters to devote time to private business interests. He will be succeeded by Jay F. Smith, present Cotton County School Superintendent...The 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Osborne, who live east of Temple, was bitten by a mad cat last Monday and was given the rabies serum... Warren Daniels, age 24, who lives three miles north of Devol, was attacked by a civet cat Thursday night while he was sleeping on a cot in the yard. He had to fight the cat off several times. He was given the rabies serum... Mr. and Mrs. Bert Powers have announced the arrival of a 10-pound son Tuesday, July 16, at their home in Walters. They have named him Clinton Bert, Jr.

Funeral services for Clarence Davis, 50, President of Cameron College at Lawton the past three years, were conducted Thursday morning from the First Christian Church in Lawton. He was Superintendent of Walters Schools from 1944 until 1952, when he assumed a like position with the Velma-Alma school system...New police chief for Walters is Bob Lewis, of Temple, veteran town and county officer. He joins Henry Sisk and Truman Smith to comprise the City Police Force...Margaret Ann Barbee, Walters High School student, returned Thursday of last week from New York City, where she participated in the 11th annual Odd Fellows United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth...Funeral services were conducted in Washington, D.C., and burial in Oxford, Miss. cemetery July 11 for the body of Mrs. Lillian Sultan, widow of the late Robert Sultan, well-known Walters banker and oilman...The wedding of Mrs. Ruby Simmons and Thomas Otey, both of Walters, was solemnized Friday evening, July 1, in Cotter, Arkansas...Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fullerton III, Miami, Okla., announce the birth of a son, Sam Clyde Fullerton IV. The new mother is the former Miss Priscilla Cook...A marriage license was issued to Robert Olen Swallow, 18, and Shirley Faye Maness, 18, both of Temple.

Members of the North Highlands Baptist Church in Hueytown, Alabama, are in Walters helping to rebuild the Independent Indian Baptist Church which was destroyed by fire January 27. After this group leaves Walters, another group will be here to do other work and then a third group will do the finish work...Michael H. Epp and Teresa A. Vardell were united in marriage Saturday, June 28, at their home in Guymon. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Vardell, of Walters. Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Sides, of Walters, and Harold Epp, of Lawton...Oras Allmon, Walters agent for State Farm Insurance Company, was honored recently by his company for 30 years service and received a new wrist watch as a token of their appreciation...Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Hopkins are the parents of a baby boy, born June 30, in Wichita Falls, and named Jaron Burdette. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burdette, of Burkburnett. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hopkins, of Devol. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins are also grandparents to Jeremy Robert, born July 4 in Wichita Falls, to Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Morton. Paternal grandmother is Mrs. Oleta Morton, of Grandfield.

Jack Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Black, and a first string member of the Temple High School football squad, was seriously injured and two other high school boys were less seriously injured in a motorcycle-automobile collision at the edge of town late Monday evening. Black suffered a broken leg. The other two youngsters, Lynn Holman and Lewis Oden, were treated at the Walters hospital for minor injuries, bruises and scratches. The motorcycle on which the three youths were riding ran into a 1934 Ford sedan, driven by Virgil Couch of Walters....A school bus repair shop is being constructed under the ramp of the Temple football stadium...A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Weaver Tuesday morning at the Holsted maternity ward. Janice Kay is her name.
