The Walters municipal airport will be in readiness for the state air tour when approximately 30 ships reach here June 27. Men have been working on the airport for several weeks filling in low places in the runways, graveling and replacing drain tiling to bring the port up to proper condition for use by the visiting ships. In addition to the runways the whole field is being leveled and the graded and weeds will be cut, making it possible for a ship to taxi across the entire field. Walters will have at least one ship in the tour, as Gordon Morrow, local flyer, has secured a plane and will join the tour at Chickasha and fly to Walters. Vernon Davis and Norman Scism will be passengers in Morrow’s plane...Mr. and Mrs. John Berry are the parents of a baby boy born at their home June 5...Miss Ellen Sheppard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Sheppard, northeast of Walters, and Pat L. Jones, son of Rev. and Mrs. J. T. Jones, Walters, were wed Sunday, June 9, at the home of the bride’s parents...The marriage of Miss Susie Pilkington, formerly of Walters, and Alfred Wimberly of Moorland, Okla., was an event of May 12 in Oklahoma City. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pilkington, of Walters.

Larry Peterman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Peterman, of Walters, got his right hand caught in a power saw at Walters Lumber Co. where he was working. The saw cut deeply into the little finger area of his hand, severing tendons and snapping the bone...Now residing in Perryton, Tex., are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Olen Chambers, newlywed couple, whose marriage was solemnized May 21 at Wichita Falls. The bride is the former Miss Pauline Roberts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Roberts, Walters, and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Chambers, of Perryton, formerly of Walters...Mr. and Mrs. Jim Longueville, Tulsa, announce the birth of a son born May 25, named Jeffrey Don...Father Gerald B. Brousseau has been transferred from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walters, and assigned as assistant at St. Pius X church at Tulsa. Succeeding him at Walters will be Father Kevin Devlin, who has been serving as administrator of Holy Family Church at Canute.

Michael C. Flanagan, who was sworn in before the Oklahoma Supreme Court on April 25, has joined his father, Funston P. Flanagan, in private practice of law in Walters... Alan and Bonita Branstetter, of Tipton, announce the birth of a baby boy, David Alan, born June 4. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Al Webb, of Tipton, and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Parsley, of Walters...Gary and Oveta Vardell announce the arrival of a daughter, Gara Jean, born June 10...Mr. and Mrs. Willie Riddles, of Walters, are the parents of a baby boy, Billy Leon, born May 27. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Billy Penrod, of Duncan, and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Riddles, of Walters...A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Nickerson, of Santa Ana, Calif., June 7, and named Diane Gayle. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Nickerson, of Walters.

Mr. and Mrs. Riley Loving of Breckenridge, Texas, announce the marriage of their daughter, Genelle, to Furman D. Branson, son of Mrs. Harry P. Gover of Hastings Route 2, on August 4 in Abilene, Texas. Mr. Branson graduated from Temple High School in 1941 and served 40 months in the army stationed in the C. B. I. Theater of War...Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ballew, who live north of Temple, have bought the Tarkington Grocery & Market and will take active charge of the business Tuesday, Sept. 16...Wendell Sparks, with an offer of $5,100, was the highest bidder at the auction sale of the Farmers & Ranchers Cafe yesterday...A son was born at Wichita Falls to Mr. and Mrs. Emmett E. Kilpatrick. He has been named Thomas Elliott.
