Lee Benson of near Geronimo, on December 27, at Frederick...Miss Edith Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Simpson, of Temple, and Charles H. Sparks, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sparks, of Healdton, were married June 1, at the Methodist Church at Temple...Miss Bessie Anderson and Floyd G. Whitney were married June 1 in Lawton. Miss Anderson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Anderson of the Pleasant Valley Community, near Walters, and Mr. Whitney is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Whitney of the Rocky Ford Community.. .The marriage of Miss Effie Quinn, of Mangum, and Ernest Ballard, son of Mrs. Dora Ballard, west of Walters, was an event of May 29 in Mangum...Bud Minton, cashier of the Walters National Bank, and N. I. McLeod visited with Bailey Stephens in a hospital at Lawton Monday where Mr. Stephens is recovering from gunshot wounds received in a battle with bandits who robbed his bank at Elgin Friday.

Partners in an implement business at Waurika, who both went to a hospital in a state of shock when their place burned down last Thursday in the fourth fire in five years, were recovered sufficiently this week to be dismissed. Fred Richardson was alone at R & M Equipment Co. Wednesday noon when it caught fire. Harry Martin, his partner, was at home when word was received about the fire...C. L. Watson, of Randlett, received near critical injuries last Thursday when working on a tractor. A piece of the hammer he was using flew off and entered his chest just above the heart. He was taken to a Wichita Falls hospital where he underwent surgery for the removal of the piece of steel...The Rockets, rock and roll type combo which records for Decca and Imperial labels, will play for a dance at the Walters Armory Saturday night. Curtis Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Collins, will appear as vocalist with the group.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Don Simpson, all of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Myers, of Houston, Texas...Effie Lipscomb was honored Monday afternoon with a birthday party at the Temple Manor for her 98th birthday...Kyle Kerr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerr, has been accepted to tour for his second year with the Continental Singers... Mr. and Mrs. Dale Smith, of Temple, are parents of a baby boy, born May 27, and named Lance Richmond. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Hartman...Miss Pamela Dalene Hardy and Rocky Jack Lee exchanged wedding vows, May 23, in the First Baptist Church in Walters. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hardy. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee, all of Walters.

Lee Webb left yesterday to visit his brother, Dr. G. O. Webb, at Tombstone, Arizona, and his brother-in-law, J. E. Burnett, who lives nearby at Saint David...Mrs. Wanda Ward, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Earp of Jay, became the bride of H. C. Edwards, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer C. Edwards of Temple in the First Baptist Church at Jay on Wednesday, August 27. They departed Saturday to make their home in Columbus, Miss.
