Abe Lemons and Clyde Barbe have opened a meat market in the building on South Broadway formerly occupied by the Christian Studio. They have both been engaged in the meat market business in Walters for many years... Dust storms continue to oppress Cotton county people, livestock and crops this week. According to old-timers of the county, this is the first year in the history of the county that dust storms have occurred with such periodical frequency. Although these dust clouds have created considerable discomfort in this county, no actual damage has yet been reported...Mrs. Ed Nelson has opened a piano studio in her home, furnished with a Baldwin grand piano, and will enroll students in classes.

Delroy Fletcher, of Walters, entered the hospital after being hit on the head by a pop bottle at the county courthouse Tuesday night at 9 o’clock. He sustained a severe cut over his left eye. The youth was on the ground, and the pop bottle was tossed out of an upstairs window by a friend who wanted to scare him...Work is progressing on the new elevator and grain storage house being built in Devol by the Harlin Mills Elevator Co. of Burkburnett. The Schubart Elevator, which was purchased by Harlin Mills Co. last year, has been razed and the new buildings will occupy the same site. Another new business is the beauty shop which is nearly completed and will be occupied by Mrs. Dorothy Turner, who will open her new shop soon after April 1...Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whittington, Walters, have chosen the name Sue Ann for their daughter born April 6...N. R. Kirkpatrick narrowly escaped serious injuries Saturday when he was bulldogging a young heifer and in the process he was fallen on and had his neck badly twisted. He was knocked out for some time, but Sunday was able to be out, although complaining of a stiff neck.

Walters School Board Monday night employed Roy Don Masoner as the new High School Principal. Masoner spent five years as coach and teacher at Temple High School, and has been six years at Tipton as high school principal...Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Moon announce the arrival of a baby boy born April 3, and named Heath Lance. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Moon, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Copeland, all of Walters...Mike and Carla Hoodenpyle announce the arrival of a baby boy born April 3, and named David Michael. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Hoodenpyle, Jr., of Walters, and Mar Jean Colbert and Rodney Cherry, of Temple...A baby girl was born to Curt and Murel McClenny, of Omaha, Neb., and named Jessica Rene. Paternal grandparents are Clyde and Jo McClenny, of Temple.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Bone and 22-month-old daughter, Karen, and son, Mike, six weeks old, arrived in Temple Saturday night to make their home. Don will assist his father in the gin and feed business. Mr. and Mrs. Bone have spent the past two years at Albuquerque, N. Mex., where he was stationed. He was a Major at the time of his recent discharge from the service...Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hickerson of Dill City in Washita County, will be members of the Temple High School faculty next term. Mr. Hickerson will be assistant coach and teach mathematics and Mrs. Hickerson will teach English.
