The Beaver Ridge School building in the northeast part of Cotton County, four miles east of Keys Station, was destroyed by fire of unknown origin last Saturday night. A new modern two-room building will be constructed to replace the two-room building which was destroyed. School at the present time is being held in a vacant building in the community. Teachers there are Mrs. Henry Jones and Miss Kathleen Wilkins...Organization of an independent Baptist Indian Church was announced this week. Articles of Incorporation from the Secretary of State have been received with Lawrence Tomah, L. D. Hough and Cecil Titchywy as trustees. They have been meeting at the refinery location, one mile south and 3/4 of a mile east of Walters... Walters Auto Supply, located on North Broadway in the building formerly occupied by the Bailey Paint & Paper store, was opened for business this week by J. C. Reed and Jack Hadra...Miss Mary Cole and Charley Meyer, both of the Pecan Grove Community, were married Thursday of last week...Mr. and Mrs. Dillard Mooney are parents of a baby son, born February 28. They have named him Elvert Dean...Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilson are the parents of a baby boy born March 5. He was named Kenneth Mac. Mrs. Wilson is the former Miss Dorothy McAlister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. McAlister. Paternal grandfather is W. E. Wilson, all of Walters.

Kenneth W. Avens, Airman Apprentice, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Avens, of Temple, is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La currently at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Washington...Coker Implement Company announces that Lindel Zachary is now employed in their service department... Petty’s Cafe announces their opening Saturday morning, March 6...Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerr, Walters, have chosen the name Kyle Franklin for their son born February 25... Donna Kay Rusk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doyal Rusk, of Walters, and Bobby Pollan, of Lawton, were honored as the campus sweethearts at Cameron College recently...Charles Schneeberger was named Valedictorian of Walters High School graduating class this week. He was awarded the top scholastic honor in a close race with Ronald Martin, who was named Salutatorian.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Knox, and Dick Evans and Vennie Ruth Shelton, all of Temple...Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wampler announce the birth of a son, Cody Dale, born March 4. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wampler and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sellers, all of Walters.

Miss Jacquetta Lee Reed became the bride of William H. Roach in the First Baptist Church Sunday afternoon, June 1. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Reed and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Roach of Okla. City...Bill’s Radio Shop, owned by Bill McIntosh, was moved three doors north this week to the Frank V. Wright building, better known as the Temple Hardware building. The store will be air conditioned...Carl Reed and his brother, Claude, have recently bought a lumber yard in Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Reed will sell their home in Temple and move there.
