27. She was given the name Dolores June...Mr. and Mrs. Toby Jackson announce the birth of a son born January 21 at Waurika, at the home of Mrs. Jackson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Ogle. He was given the name Donald Ray... Mr. and Mrs. James Ballard announced the birth of a son born February 4. They have named him James Raymon... Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Fletcher of the Valley View #268 Community, have a new baby girl who arrived January 29, and was given the name of Norma Louise.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hardy have chosen the name Michael Dale for their son born Friday, January 29... Wesley Wilson underwent surgery on a goot Thursday in Memorial Hospital in Lawton to repair damage received in a fall several weeks ago at which time both his heels were broken...A. B. Thurman, Superintendent of Walters School system, was employed for the 1960-61 year by the Board of Education. Thurman, who became High School Principal in 1948 and advanced to the Superintendence in 1954...Dr. Leon W. Kidd, new Pastor of First Christian Church in Walters, arrived Monday with his wife and two children and will meet the congregation for the first time at Sunday services...Miss Jeanie Cooper, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Cooper, Temple, was elected Honorary Cadet Colonel by the Cameron College Reserve Officer Training Corps recently.

Cheryl Cooper, escorted by David Darnell, was crowned basketball queen at the Walters-Anadarko game Tuesday night, February 5. Attendants and escorts were Doug Fowler and Resa Kinney and Robin Gonzales and Steve Woods...Mr. and Mrs. Ralph White will celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary Saturday, February 9 at the family home northeast of Walters. They were married February 9, 1934 in Comanche County. Mrs. White is the former Miss Sophronia J. Brown, of Temple...John Norman, Oklahoma City Attorney, has assumed the position of President of the Oklahoma Trial Lawyers Assn. Norman is a Temple High School graduate. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Norman, of Temple, and is married to Cecilia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bentley, of Temple.

The Busy Bee Home Demonstration Club of Cotton County will be honored on Edd Lemons’ Saturday Farm Fair broadcast over WKY at 12:30 p.m. May 10. Lemons will pay tribute to the organization as part of the observance of National Home Demonstration week. Mrs. R. M. Flippins, Route 1 Randlett, is President and Mrs. L. A. Zachary, Route 1 Randlett, is Secretary of the Club which was organized 34 years ago...Following completion of the foundation last week, work was started Saturday on the erection of Temple’s new High School building under the supervision of Ray Lewis, local contractor. The building is being constructed of concrete blocks and will be approximately 40 feet wide and 150 feet long. It will provide for two class rooms and a huge cafeteria...A girl was born at Wichita Falls Thursday, May 1, to Mr. and Mrs. John Edd Dowlen of Temple. She was named Ruth Renee.
