Mrs. Thomas (Sudie Lee G.) Otey, 51, of Route 1, Temple, died Christmas day in a two car collision near Wewoka. Mr. Otey is in McBride Bone and Joint hospital in Oklahoma City with a fractured right collar bone, chest injuries, multiple lacerations, including scalp and arm wounds, head injuries and the upper third of his left thigh bone was shattered. The other car had gone off the road and went back on the road across the center line and they met head-on. The driver of the other car was also killed... Clarence Fletcher, Jr., was installed as Worshipful Master of Walters Masonic Lodge Monday evening. Fred Steele was installed as Senior Warden and Lloyd Manuel as Junior Warden. Others installed were: Lee Mershon, Treasurer; Paul Owens, Secretary; Cecil Cathey, Chaplain; Charles Whittington, Senior Deacon; Eddie Phillips,Junior Deacon; D. L. Colburn, Senior Steward; Gilbert Kidd, Junior Steward; and Grady Colston, Tyler...Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Bowles, of Randlett, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house reception Sunday, December 20, in the Union Valley Community center. Mr. and Mrs. Bowles were married in Lawton, December 24, 1909, and established their home in the Union Valley Community where they still live.

Miss Lynette Mowatt became the new Miss Walters when the current Miss Walters, Stephanie Red Elk Davis relinquished her crown after her mrariage. Miss Mowatt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Toquothty, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Sylvester of Walters, and Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Mowatt, of Indiahoma...A daughter was born to Navy Lt. and Mrs. Jerry Adkison, of Virginia Beach, Va. She was been named Lisa Renee. Maternal grandparents are the late Wm. W. Fraser and Mr. and Mrs. Orley Lawson, of Vinita, Okla., and the late Orville L. Adkison and Mr. and Mrs. John M. Rogers, of Oklahoma City...Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Worsham, of Temple, were honored with a family dinner Friday night in honor of their Golden Wedding anniversary. Ural Worsham and Mauriel Enoch were married December 26, 1929 in Lawton...The children of Mrs. Dezzie Kemp, of Randlett, will hold open house Sunday, January 6th in the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Williams on Mrs. Kemp’s 100th birthday... Carl Walsingham, of Duncan, will succeed John Scaggs to the position of assistant district attorney for Cotton County. Scaggs will now devote full time to the practice of civil law.

Improvements are now being made on the community auction sale property back of the B. & O. Store. Concrete floors and other improvements are being added to the building. The work is sponsored by the Temple Chamber of Commerce...Billy J. Irey, former aviation ordnanceman 2/c, USN, Temple, Okla., has been awarded the Navy Air medal and Gold Stars in lieu of second, third and fourth air medals. The medals are for meritorious achievement in aerial flight during operation against enemy Japanese forces in the southwest Pacific war area from May 28 to Sept. 15, 1944...Roy Dolman, well-known local business man, opened an insurance office this week in the rooms formerly occupied by Dr. Manatt over the First State Bank. Also having space in the offices will be Funston Flanagan, lawyer; James Reece, farm operator and oil man; and U. M. Wilkins, auditor. Earl McCraw, grain buyer and business executive, and Dr. Gossett, dentist, have offices on the same floor...Fire Thursday night wiped out the home and household goods of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nail in the northwest part of Temple, the second loss of that kind they have had in less than seven months.
