Hesitations

Thank You, Lord for the rain!

How many of you have ever needed to do somethin’ but you hesitated and it kept you from getting’ it done correctly? Don’t hesitate…

When you’re out in the cow pens and you sort off an eight weight feeder steer that you’d really like to see get loaded on that last truck, don’t hesitate. If you do there is a good chance that he won’t hesitate and nail you with his snub horn, and then you have to get your lip sewed back together. I know…

When you’re at ranch rodeo, entered in the wild cow milkin’ contest, and she lowers her head and comes right at you, don’t hesitate. Move! It ain’t no starin’ contest! Have a plan! I know!

When you are walkin’ across the calvin’ pasture to check on that baby calf and look up and there a pole cat showin’ you her nice fluffy tail, don’t hesitate. Git movin’! Nothing really gets rid of the smell. I know…

We need to stop Hesitatin’! Hesitations sounds like it could be a book in the Bible!

Let’s look in Matthew 14, starting in about verse 22. The disciples had gone out in the boat to cross across the sea. Jesus had stayed behind to pray. It was late as they had encountered rough seas, The boys looked up to see something…maybe a ghost walking across the water toward ‘em. They was just a little sceared. It was Jesus, and He told them not to be scared!

Peter hollered back, “Boss, if it is you, then tell me to walk on out there to You.”

And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “ You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!” (Matt 14:29-33 nasb)

Jesus doesn’t hesitate! At the right time, He does the will of His Father!

The disciples seemed to be in quite a fix. It looked like a bad situation. They were in a boat on the sea and a storm was raging- and then they see a feller walking on the water! But it is Jesus!

And we see that Peter didn’t hesitate…at least not at first. Jesus tells ‘em to come on, and Peter just hops out of the boat and starts walking on the water to Jesus. He forgot that humans can’t walk on water.

But then he looked at the sea, wind, and the waves, and he thought, “I can’t do this.”

I think Peter could would make a dang good hand. He was bold, and he had grit. He took risks---sometimes they paid off, sometimes they didn’t, but at least he was willing to try. He was known to stand up and get into a fight or two.

At first, Peter went towards Jesus, but then he hesitated. He looked around at the world around him and thought, “I can’t do this!”

How about you? Have you ever hesitated? Maybe Jesus has been tellin’ you to do somethin’ for years… Maybe you need to forgive somebody! Or maybe He’s been invitin’ you to come follow Him, but you hesitate. It’s time we follow Jesus!

Stop Hesitatin’!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And pray for rain!
