That Gospel Light

So thankful for the blessings of rain we have received in the last week. God is good!

Have any of y’all ever been way back in a big huge cave and turned off your flashlight or whatever you had for a light source only to discover you could see absolutely nothing? It is truly weird to not be able to see your hand right in front of your face. I would not want to have to endure darkness 24/7.

One of my favorites: it is about the bug that told the other bug, “Jesus is the Light, go to the light!” And he literally did. But in this case, it certainly wasn’t Jesus; it was a bug zapper light.

My thinkin’ is this: There is one Jesus and one real gospel. Don’t accept anything but the “real” good news or you’ll likely get zapped! And please don’t decide upon darkness!

Eph 5:8, for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.

So just how is a child of the Light supposed to walk? Well, he sure ought to walk like he can see where he’s going. Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. (Ps 119:105)

And in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:1-5)

To give further understanding: Jesus = Light = Word = with God = is God = Spirit = Way = Truth = Life = Heaven!

Or to say it like John wrote it: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

The only other plan is not a plan: Satan = darkness = evil = apart from God = not the way = hell!

Please choose life! Choosing not to choose is choosing the wrong choice!

Now a feller can go to church and he can hear the Word preached. He can even read on it for a spell, but if he doesn’t choose Christ, he might as well be reading a Louis L’Amour western. Now, I like Louis L’Amour’s work, and as far as I know, I’ve read all of his books. But while his books are a good read, and they always had a fairly good ending, they don’t change anything.

Just knowing who Jesus is doesn’t change much. But having a relationship with Jesus Christ changes everything. ‘Bout as different as night and day! …or darkness and Light!

If you are still not convinced, then there are some other ways we can make the comparison. If you turn on a light switch and the light doesn’t come on we either suspect that the bulb has burned out or the plug has come away from the power source (plug-in).

Our Power Source is Jesus, and He will never come unplugged! He did once at the cross so He could make full payment for the sins of the world, but once was enough. He lives!

As His followers, we need to have what I call a Tom Bodett attitude towards others, “We’ll leave the Light on for you!” Let others see Christ in you!

God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:5-7 Be His Light!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And pray for rain!
