Godly Dads!

Well, Sunday is Father’s Day! So, Dads I invite you to pick out your favorite church that serves a risen Savior and cowboy up by taking the whole family to church! I’m pretty sure that most of the churches are meeting in their auditorium again while practicing safety.

Dad, this Sunday, June 21st is for you! Well, we would like to think so, anyway. It’s Father’s Day. We’ve all heard the stories. Sometimes, we as men dread this day. For some men, it is a reminder that their children don’t want to have anything to do with them. For others, it means being pampered. Now what man wants to be pampered? It kind of sounds icky! Few of us would ever really admit it, but nearly all of us appreciate at least a little attention from our wife and children.

I’ve brought this up before, but when I was pastor over at cowboy church, out focus could be said to be on the man of the family. I believe this should hold true for most all churches.

And you might ask, “Why would you want to focus in on the men?”

Well, thanks for asking. First, please understand that the church wants to reach out to all people.

So why do we seem to focus on the men?” It’s like this. If a child comes to the Lord and neither parent is present then there’s about a 75% chance he or she won’t stay in church. If Mom brings the child then it’s about 50/50 deal that the kid will stay in church. But if Dad is leading the family to church, then the statistics are near 90% that the child will become and remain an active member in the church. Now please understand the gospel of Jesus Christ is for all and available to all. And we reach out to and minister to women, youth, and children as well. We realize that every age group needs the Lord! In Acts 16:31, “…Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” nasb

Men, these days, have often ridden a rocky trail. They’ve seen divorce, financial failure, and other problems like alcohol addiction and drug addiction.

If a man will come get involved in a friendly church that believes the Bible, they will find out that Jesus loves them right now, where they are at. God has a plan and it’s the best one you could ever have. It’s better than any “expert” could ever come up with.

All you have to do is come to the realization that your way doesn’t work. Say something like, “God, I know I’ve messed up, You call it sin—which I’ve done plenty. Jesus I believe you are the Son of God and You came to die on the cross for me to pay for my sin. I invite You in to be Lord of my life. I want to ride for You from now on. And I know there will come a day when I get to enter into Heaven and dwell there forever. Amen.

Josh 24:15 says this, “…as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” nasb

Being a Dad myself, I realize how our children truly are a special gift God has given us.

Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them… Ps.127:3-5 (nasb)

There are times when we, as men, fail our families. I guess the greatest problem is that Dads fail to lead their family to Christ! Well, we must start with ourselves. Men, give your life to Christ and allow Him to lead. You need the Lord! Your family needs the Lord! Dads, invite Jesus over to your place! And do it today!

Choose Jesus, choose life and let your light shine! And find a Bible believin’ church where you “fit in” and know, grow, and follow Christ! Tell others! See y’all at church and keep PRAYIN’ for HIS HARVEST! And pray for rain.
