Did you see the “Elf on the Shelf” on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? Melissa Steadman, visiting for Christmas at the home of her grandmother, MaryAnn Holman, was seen perched on the roof edge of Holman’s landmark house on the corner of South First Street and East Washington performing the iconic “Elf on the Shelf.” Passersby waved, honked, and took selfies with the “Elf” as she changed poses to entertain children and adults alike.

Steadman, a singer, dancer, and actress, has traveled an£™d performed all over the US and internationally, most recently with the Broadway tours of “Newsies” and “An American in Paris.” Steadman grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Musical Theatre from The University of Oklahoma. After graduation she moved to New York City and now resides in Nashville, Tennessee pursuing a career in music.

Holman’s home was built in 1912 by her grandfather, Wm. A Kurtz, and for many years has welcomed MaryAnn’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren for the holidays. This year was no exception.
