Philippians 4: 6 & 7; “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Folks, we have become so accustomed to the fast pace world we live in that we have begun to demand a fast pace / speed in our spiritual life as well. However, God acts on our behalf if we just wait on him. “What he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.” Isa. 64:4.

We would be wise to endure until the fruits of His labor appears.

Let’s look at three reasons we as believers are called upon to wait.

1.) God may be preparing us to receive a blessing (or more than one) from Him. Perhaps we need new skills for something or even greater maturity. Sometimes we need to be refreshed with new spiritual insight before we are ready to hold what our hearts desire. You remember, David waited for years to sit on his appointed throne, however when he did he was much wiser, stronger, and had been battle tested.

2.) Maybe God is teaching us (His Children) to have more confidence in Him. We must trust Him and keep the faith. When we do that He will never be late to meet any needs we may have. When we rush to get ahead of God and think we can justify it, what we’re really doing is saying, “I don’t trust You enough to wait.” When we get ahead of God, we will make mistakes and the results will not be good. We should never rush to get ahead of Him, because He is in control, not us. He will answer your pray, but it will be in His timing, and not ours.

3.) You know, the Lord will sometimes withhold blessings from us in order to protect us. He could very well be trying to tell us something and we are not listening. Perhaps from some harm we are unable to see. We may never know why things was delayed, but we can be sure that there was a good reason for it. You can rest assured that God closely examines whatever it is that we are desiring before He will give it to us.

Waiting on something is never easy. As I said last week, we are impatient by nature, particularly in this fast pace “I want it now” everything world we live in. When we rush to get ahead of the Lord it’s like an overload of electricity and the circuit breaker trips. It short – circuits His plans. When we do that, we as believers will not be happy, we will be unsatisfied with any results and we must live with terrible consequences.

So, be patient and let the Lord work out all the details. He is better equipped to handle any situation than any of us. He is in control, not us and believe me folks, we have not seen His best work. His best is on the way, so just be patient and He will act on our behalf.
